listed this in another group but.....HAS...Anyone done this? Is there a better/comfortable way to cut/sew/add zipper? I walk and talk and I am perspiring so I need more cooling options than most people.

Can you request it from Firstlite?

Man i sew a lot of stuff but i wouldn't do that personally. Checkout the kuhl liberator convertible pants that zip off. I wore those last year and loved them. Wore them as shorts some on the mountain as well. They run about $80

I didnt have them turned to shorts but I purchased a pair of Switchback pants that had knee pads that road too low on my shins and I had them cut clean through and 3in take out of the upper legs to bring the pads up. worked well in those and same concept but not sure how it would work with the wool and ripstop fabric

I second rp59az on the Fjallraven Keb Gaiter trousers!!

This is the only pant that my brother and I wore for two weeks straight this season, backpacking hard at 9,500-12k ft. These are awesome pants, we were very impressed. I washed the upper shorts portion 1x during the hunt.

I do recommend waxing the lower leg gaiter portion pre-hunt, I did. It keeps heavy morning dew from soaking the lower pant. I did not use Fjallraven's wax, I used Barbour's wax that they make for their traditional English rain coats... worked great. Treat the pants, then hang them in the hot sun for two days or so while the solvent in the wax mix evaporates.
