Just a thought on successful hunts

Not at all. Plenty of guys still do it, but I don’t
I think that's stupid. I get not allowing cameras during the season or even banning cell cams since you get live updates, but if it's off season you should be able to run cameras. I guess it's probably more difficult to enforce, so they just ban them entirely.

Yeah, to be fair, the area I hunt gets minimal enforcement as is, and they’re definitely not going around looking for cameras, so it’s a pretty minor issue it seems which is why quite a few guys use them still.

I know first sits are good and I have killed plenty of bucks that way. But my biggest ones usually take a few tries. First sit in a new area I usually learn something unexpected, then adjust from there and come back for a kill. That’s where having good access is key…gotta be able to get in and out as clean as possible.

All depends on how much of your own sign you leave for the deer. Keep the wind in your favor and if its not keep moving until it is. Try to always set up where you have a good enough hide that you aren’t getting picked out often too.

they’re wild animals that do wild things.

1. Never make rules, they’ll humble you.
2. Just because it’s a mature buck, doesn’t mean he will never daylight in a field, food plot or opening
3. If the Access is good, you can hunt the same tree multiple times.
4. Don’t rely on trail cameras to tell you everything
5. Just because a TV Show Host or YouTuber 1,000 miles away does something, doesn’t always mean it will work where you’re at
6. Public Land isn’t always as “Easy” or “Fun” as some YouTubers make it seem.
7. “Hunting the wind” isn’t always applicable. Light & Variable winds exist in many parts of the Country.
8. Have Fun

Killed my biggest in almost 40 years of hunting at the end of last season. It was the 33rd time I had sat in that stand hunting that particular deer. I killed another mature deer earlier in the season at that spot who was wounded (otherwise he would have gotten a pass). I had very clean entry/exit to this stand and stayed out when the wind was wrong

Killed my 2nd or 3rd biggest back in October this year. Think it was my fifth sit in the same stand for that one. Again, clean entry exit and don’t hunt the wrong wind.
