My one and only, workhorse scope is a Zeiss Conquest V4 and it does all I ask it to and more. Now resting on my .243 Yote rifle. The rig? Accurate is an understatement.
However..............rotating this scope back and forth between my other 2 BG rifles is a PIA. Time to add another scope, keeping in mind my limited budget. Goal? Reasonable cost without sacrificing quality. Just purchased a Leupold Vx3HD 3.5x10x50 Fire Dot. Now sitting on my 270 Win. Temps are in the teens with strong winds so sighting in will have to wait a bit.
While I can't yet comment on long term reliability, I can say, this old curmudgeon is impressed with this scope. Glass clarity is simply superb. Eye relief? Forgiving, which means more than enough for this man. Fire dot? I don't know how anyone could ask for more. Dialing? I plan to set it between 4x and 6x and pretty much forget it. Yeah, I'm old school and know how to hold over and/or wide when needed...which is reasonably rare as I prefer to stay within my personal confidence level...inside 400 yards and typically a LOT closer. KISS. Scope is reasonably light at 1 lb. Overall? Rfle balances / handles nicely...just as it will when mounted on the 30-06...same rifle make/model.
Based on previous Leupold ownerships a few years back, I'm confident the scope will adjust and sight in nicely. Another reason why I bought it. Long term? Hoping I made a good decision as I very much like this scope. OH...BTW...Made in the USA. That mattered too.
Cheers!!
