I drew what looks to be a newer tag in UT EA1264 which is a rifle cow elk tag for Jan 18-26. I'm driving in and don't know the area at all, but want to fill my freezer. It looks like it's just a small area to hunt (basically just Rabbit Gulch) but I could use any advise you're willing to give. I've killed a few elk with guides but this is my first solo elk hunt. I have a good 4x4 truck and glass and all the equipment, but hoping someone knows something about this unit. TIA

Let us know how you do, I’ve hunted north of that area about 50 miles but never Rabbit Gulch..looks like about 8k acres.

Yeah. 80-90,000 acres. I’ve never been near there so looking for any guidance to fill my freezer. Ideally I won’t just be driving around and crossing my fingers.

My thoughts exactly. I put a call into the biologist but haven’t heard back yet. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll try the warden if the biologist ends up a dead end.

Thanks. I spoke with him a few weeks ago and suspect we got the same info. I’ll likely see you out there in about a month.
