I recently hunted bison in Jackson Hole and wanted to share the adventure. I drew a non-resident cow permit in 2015 and hunted in late December on the National Elk Refuge. It was bitterly cold and a lot of fun! This hunt was far more adventurous and challenging than we expected. I highly recommend this trip for anyone wanting to pursue 100% wild free-ranging bison. Scope out our video and let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to help!

I really enjoyed your video- your reaction when you dropped your cow was priceless! I also liked the footage of the other species on the refuge. Welcome to Rokslde!

Great job. I was out there this year as well. We actually went twice. Once earlier in December when it really hadn't even turned cold yet and no bison were on the NER at all. We went back right at the end of the season but didn't connect. By that time there was a lot of snow and the bison were only crossing the road occasionally at night. Mostly it was just guided hunters or DIYers that got lucky and were in the right places at the right times that connected. It was still amazing and I will probably go back every year I can just to see all the wildlife.

Watching your video, I know where you parked and hiked in. Spent some time up on that hill where you first spotted them but we never were fortunate to catch them. We also crossed the river a couple times but to no avail. The herds of elk you walked up to was amazing.

I was kind of confused in the video where it goes to night. Did you shoot yours on a different day from when you spotted that herd on the top of the ridge? I couldn't tell where you were when you actually shot. It almost looked like it was more towards the river.

**Nevermind, made it through the video. So did you cross the river or hike in from the highway?

Great video. I wonder how the 'tag and drag' would work going down a decent hill. I'd think the sled could slide into the horse.
