Has anyone tried it? I have several larger handguns that I would carry in a typical kydex holster, but I'm wondering if I were to try to carry my light weight small gun if I could just use a IWB holster between the pack belt and the padding? Worried if you had a good bit of weight in the pack it wouldn't work. Thinking a good 2 attachment point holster would work if not over something like 50#.

Thought process is it would be very limited use but if wanted to take something like my p365 (light, small, compact) it would keep it out of the way from brush and stuff. Don't know that I would buy a holster for just carrying that gun with a pack, but a IWB holster that would also work in this situation might be helpful.

I still have 2x scars on my lower back where the clips for my old school army lbe suspenders were under my waist belt on a long ruck March. They rubbed through my shirt and the skin on my back after a few hours.

Seems like having something under your packbelt could chafe very badly.

Not really going to be under my pack belt. It would be between the belt strap and the foam of the pack belt. So it would be under tension from the pack belt, but foam between you and the holster, figure if it's a wide holster it should disperse the pressure well.

IWB clips on vs belt passing thru an enclosed loop on a OTW holster. Clips can easily come undone. Personally I do not like clip on holsters for anything.

IWB just sounds uncomfortable with a pack. My IWB hybrid is pretty comfortable, but it doesn't have the added pressure of a hip belt- and then with the pack loaded- no thanks.

I adapted a holster to fit outside my pack belt...its tight and fast- in the most intuitive draw location for me, YMMV

Ah. I misunderstood your post. In that case, I agree with making sure you have good retention holster to gun and pack to holster. My IWB holsters are open top and wear clips although I know of many models with loops.

I have but I didn't feed the strap through the holster. Made me nervous I'd lose it everytime I took the pack off. I wouldn't recommend unless it's super secure. This was on a mystery ranch guide light belt.

Was it uncomfortable? Other than worried about it falling off did you have any issues?

Found some that have clips but also cutouts. So you could thread a belt through to securely hold it. I'm assuming these are setup to be either IWB or OWB. But I'm liking the idea of it being inside the belt so it doesn't stick out very far. Probably just going to order one and see how it does.

Ive done it before. On my exo man pack I slipped the gun/holster onto the waist belt really far back in that little triangle of space where the shoulder straps come down and the waist attaches to the frame. It was just a day hike so there really wasn't much weight on the gun.

It worked ok, the gun was accessible but a little hard to get at being that far back. With a real load I think it would dig in and be miserable.
