Push for some Promethizene w/ Codeine syrup to control that horrible Cough. Also the Benzonatate "Pearls" to help against the cough. A regular old ZPac to help attack the lungs issue. And for the pneumonia a vaporizor system with generous amounts of the Camphor poured into the water it will turn to steam. Can't tell ya how much the vaporizer helps when you're lungs are girgling crackling wheezing away while sleeping.

Curious... during your initial onset... did you have 2 days of initial high fever where you did not eat anything?

P.S. Had gotten it starting 2nd week in Feb and lasted thru end of March and petered-out just barely into april. It got my lungs in a death-grip. But I am prone to chronic bronchitis, for example. My initial onset was marked by 2 days of super high fever in which I did not have any desire to eat. and if you knew my always-eatin' self, you'd have been amazed!

The fluid in the lungs was causing me to cough soo hard an old tailbone injury inflammed right up and everytime I would cough, that tailbone injury felt that it was gonna drop me to the floor and make my tailbone give-out on me! That tailbone and lowerback/sacro-iliac trauma have remained since it went away. Wear a pack and when I come back home I feel hobble back there for like 3 days. Pretty soon gonna do MRI's to figure what's up with the area. As well as back specialist and Physical Therapy appts.

I never had a bad cough at all. In fact, I really only had a slight cough to expel some loose fluid following the pneumonia diagnosis, and it was never irritating and didn't happen at night. And that really only lasted a couple of days.

No - I had a fever the first couple of days, and while I had a reduced appetite, it wasn't as bad as what you described. So glad you made it through!

Hope you get well soon. Glad your symptoms haven't been too severe. My brother in law had it. He is an extremely healthy 27 year old and it kicked his butt for about 3 weeks. He is fully recovered now. Obviously, the severity of symptoms can run from extreme to nothing. A buddy of mine is a respiratory therapist at a large hospital, and he has seen some very scary stuff from this. And despite being a Clemson fan, I wish you a speedy recovery.

How were your lung xrays?

I’ve had 3 people I know get it . One is a very healthy 50 ish runner and they were laid up about 3 weeks . The other was about 9-10 days and the final person was aches and pains for a day or so .

I’ve also had a friend in Texas I suspect had it and they had a bad cough for over a month , a fever for a couple days , but the doctor would not give a covid test and just said they had pneumonia .

My son was exposed to one of the people the day before they got sick ( friends mom where he spent the night)... and he didn’t feel well for a couple weeks but an antibody test was negative

Mama brought it home. Her company receives it's product (silk floral arrangement) manufactured very near to Wuhan. So yeah, like I freakishly got a mainline of it, directly to my door. Go figure. Like I say, "I know my luck." And dig this, I've been working from my home for like the last 19 yrs straight. So I tell folks... if *I* got it, What the Heck makes you think YOU ain't gettin' it? Ya know?

I'd first had a gnarly Flu from Dec 26th up until that 1st week in Feb. Got over that and was better for exactly 1 week, then Mama brought home the CoVID. Maybe 3 days later me and the boy come down with it. Harsh on everybody, but they don't have the lung issues I do from parents who smoked and living near-ish to two major oil refineries during teen years.

For you guys that have gotten it. Do you have any idea about the how, when and where you might have contracted it?

I have given this a lot of thought, especially over the last few days. Short answer is I don't know, and will never know, but here are a few thoughts.
  • I could have been exposed at a restaurant, including an outdoor beach bar in Folly Beach. But I was with my son, daughter and her friend and of those, only my son had any symptoms - 4 days later.
  • Since my son had some minor symptoms a day before me, and we did everything together, there is a chance he got it from the place he worked for his internship - but they had a mask rule, and other precautions in place. If I had to bet, this would be the source. They did have people test positive and closed the office for a few days, but apparently those who were positive were not in close proximity to my son when he was working.

This ^^^ is the reason for my one bit of preaching. IMHO, we can't rely on anyone other than our selves for our care, and if you don't have a doctor with whom you are comfortable, get another. And if that doctor won't do what you think is right, get another. I spent months preparing for what might happen, and in the end I didn't follow my own advice and let my doctor dictate to me a pretty passive treatment. Then I got another one and pushed back and got (what I *believe* was) better care.

End of rant.

Add me to the list of very interested in your personal account. My Mrs is a board certified Physician's Assistant and her close circle of colleagues should be a huge Plus if/when one of us goes down. She is as boned up on all things Covid on a daily basis. as one can be. Simply seems a huge disparity in symptoms. Crossing fingers for Covid-Lite here.....

Best wishes for full recovery. Thanks for posting

Thanks again for all of the well wishes!

Update - doctor said today that even though the diagnostic test from 7/9 is not back yet, the results are moot. My quarantine period will be three days of no elevated temperature. Bad news is that my temp on Saturday was 99.7, so yesterday was day 1. So far no fever today.

Glad you are on the mend, had a friend, healthy 50, college athlete and still in shape try to weather the storm at home without Dr. assistance. He was found dead from COVID, apparently it went south quickly and he was unable to reach out for help. If you are not feeling well, call your doctor.

My BIL (early 60s) has it and he lives w my sister - they've done nothing to separate and she's not gotten it.

Been a couple of months now and sister has been tested 2x - negative both times (one was antibody test).

Get well soon!

Hope you get better. My Daughter is an RN shes been tested for it 5 times because of all of the positive patients shes had to work on. I think I had it back in January. 103 fever for four days. Ran a fever so long that my mind started playing tricks on me.
