I have my eyes on a few different ones. I went back and forth on boots for years before settling in on the slip on Irish Setter types; down here snakes are a 365 day a year thing, and I love tucking my pants into my boots (no gaiters needed when you wear 16" boots). I also have the non-snake 10" versions of the same boot; would I be out of my mind considering those? I really like slip on boots...but I'm guessing that the free room in them is bad news bears for blisters. I typically walk 2-3 miles a day when hunting down here and don't have an issue, but any more than that I don't have any experience with (in these boots anyway).
I also learned that insulated boots are the bane of my existence, because my feet WILL sweat when I walk, and then freeze in the stand. Hoping merino wool socks help with this (I've never had any until now), though I feel the consistently lower temps I'll experience in Colorado during 2nd rifle vs hunting down here may warrant some light insulation?
Basically I have no idea where to start. Eyeing these:
