My sister and brother in law went there last year (before the current situation) as a part of a tour that St Olaf college in Minnesota puts on. A cousin of mine is one of the people that runs the tour. They traveled throughout Israel and Jordan visiting various historical sites including Petra. The tour approaches it from a biblical historical perspective though she has no interest in that per say.. She said they had plenty of free time outside of the group tour to do their own things along the way. She has traveled throughout the world and said it was one of her favorite trips.

Yeah I don’t think now is the time to visit OP. Israel and Hezbollah could get into a full fledged war any day.

gaza has some great beaches...beruit was once a fantastic tourist spot, 'the paris of the middle east'.... but, alas.

I believe that Beruit still is and still has a crazy nightlife scene.
