I’m searching for the best all around lightweight merino gloves. I want them to be multipurpose for both archery season, and to be used as a liner under another pair of gloves when the temperatures drop during rifle season.

I’ve bought and tried several high end pairs from name brands and have yet to find a pair I like. I have long fingers, but not ridiculously long.

Sitka Core Merino 330 gloves fit like a loose plastic bag on your hand. Terrible fit. Stone glaciers are okay.

I’m leaning towards maybe going away from merino and looking at some from Outdoor Research or Mountain Hardwear.

Thoughts?

I like merino gloves as liners for late season (for under a mitten shell) but early to mid season I like wearing a dipped nitrile glove like Milwaukee Tool, but you can find them pretty much anywhere nowadays. They have great dexterity and grip, and they’re cheap!! They also dry extremely fast. I can usually wear these down to about 30 degrees active. I pack 2 pairs so I can switch if one wets out.
All of the silicone gripped hunting gloves that I’ve used have worn out quickly, on both merino and synthetic. Not worth the price unless used as a liner. They do perform better under mitts than the nitrile glove.

I wear these wool gloves in everything but the coldest temps. Kind of like the military liners but thinner. They sell them at every gas station and saw shop in my area. I usually have a spare that I pull out mid day if it’s really wet. They are like $5 a pair.
