I'm torn on this subject. I use an angled spotter and a BTX right now. I use a spotter to judge animals. I don't see enough animals I am swapping back and forth as much as it sounds like Travis does. And if I do see a buck I want a better look at I usually look through the spotter with the spotter sideways. Zero tripod adjustment. If glassing really far I throw the BTX on and glass with that.
I have been looking into the STC bigeyes but I wonder if the 40x is enough sometimes.
I hate to admit it but I do a lot of glassing from the truck in the summer. Lots of times a couple hours a day on my to work. After locating something with binos I usually have to either relocate the pickup or the window mount so I can see with my angled spotter. If just glassing with the spotter from the truck it's fine. I can position the truck properly. But using a combo of binos and angled spotter it sucks.
