Is this orange enough to be legal?

Been looking for a sun hoody in Orange for awhile now. Just so happens the BD AlpenGlow Pronis my favorite sun hoody on the market. New color out. Would this constitute “blaze” orange?

Need something for Sept bear hunting. Next to a Kuiu orange piece for comparison.

Cool. I thought so, too. BD also has a coefficient hoody in the same color for a fleece mid layer. On sale, too.

Maybe these hunting brands will get their heads out of their asses one day and offer some Orange baselayers. I will say, as much as I’ve dotted over the superiority of the BD AlpenGlow Pro sun hoody as being the best sun hoody on the market anytime someone asks for sun hoody recommendations, (I live in the southwest and I’ve tried many or most of them), I couldn’t help but notice that Kuiu introduced the Gila Pro with the same features: vented armpits, multi layer hood designed to “latch” on to a hat bill, quarter zip.

If the Gila had a quarter zip I’d be all over it. Tried one and missed having it.

Probably not much profitable incentive for that. Those “hunting brands” that are probably referenced, are for performance clothing, like bowhunting, hiking and chasing bugling elk in September mountains, where you’re not required to wear orange, and when you only need a base layer, you certainly don’t won’t orange.

I had been keeping an eye out for a matte color BD sun hoody and their green wasn't quite there for my taste. I liked that it is nylon rather than poly.

I ended up ordering one from Skwala two weeks ago and I am liking it a little more each time I wear it. https://skwalafishing.com/collections/shirts/products/sol-tactical-hoody?variant=41083160854700

Edit: I thought the OP image seemed questionable but the post following mine shows it to be much brighter.

This is the one that I have been wanting to try.

I recently bought an orange sun shirt from Shelta that I have been enjoying but it lacks a hood.

I have a different BD item in “Octane Orange” that I bought in hopes of working for CO’s blaze requirements. (I haven’t tested it in front of a Warden so YMMV.) When I got it, I put it up against my Orange Aglow backpack cover and a G&F branded hat and I’d say it’s darn close:

I think only the most nitpicky eyes would even notice much of a difference — definitely not a practical difference (Fwiw this taken in indoor light). Just to be sure, I checked CO’s statutes (§ 33-6-121) to see if they have any specifics and all they say is:
Garments are solid fluorescent pink or daylight fluorescent orange colored material and are of sufficient brightness to be seen conspicuously from a reasonable distance.
I did a little more research and found this page, which discusses blaze orange in general. It references ANSI 107, which presumably is the definitive standard for blaze orange. The requirements are the wavelength (and therefore color) should be 595-605nm, and it should be highly saturated and bright (85%+ and 40%+, respectively). Now I do not have the proper equipment to officially test this but using the above picture I grabbed the color codes from a few different pixels and put them in this website. I tried to pick a spot that I thought is representative and got results that satisfy the above definition:

The hat seemed to be around 595-596nm, which tracks since it looks a little more yellow. It would probably be best to ask the manufacturer for their color definition to truly cover all your bases, but I’m thinking it’s probably pretty safe.

That orange seems questionable to me...

Used it last summer and this year too and enjoying it. Wind will cut through which is good when sun's out but early mornings and evenings can get chilly

Sept bear hunting. early season, above treeline mule deer hunting. Sept Mzl. Anytime it’s a bluebird day in Oct and you are in the direct sun or hiking your ass off. Various small game and bird hunting. Hunting most anytime in Arizona, SoCal, southern NM

Thanks for the detailed information. Is that the Alpine Start hoody you have. I have picked up one of those for backcountry skiing and I’ve been pretty blown away by it: super breathable, yet takes the edge off the wind.

For what it's worth, I love my Duck Camp bamboo hoody!

I've also been searching for an orange sun hoody for Sep bear. Been eyeing the Truewerk B1. Figured any orange would work if it could be seen from a distance.

If you just want a super lightweight non-encumbering blaze orange outer garment to be legal for warm weather........I found this shirt at a thrift store brand new with original tags for $2. Orange poly polo. Brand is Grand Slam Performance and I've seen them on Ebay. Then you can wear whatever you want under it.

Yep, haven’t used it yet though. Couldn’t pass it up for ~$55 a couple weeks ago
