The action starts around 7:30.

The muzzle flagging after the first miss..
They are talking about the ethics of the hunt...
They pose with the rifle in front of the trophy displayed like it was a precision instrument critical in the hunt. Satire? It has to be right?
I can't believe Kryptek posted this thing.. Then again the muley freak guys are sportin kryptek these days so maybe gut and ass shootin critters with sweet custom rifles is their gig.

Wow. I liked the part where he hands off the empty rifle for another full one. I don’t think I would’ve told anyone about that kind of shooting let alone released a film documenting it. At least no one got shot with that muzzle waving in every direction but at the animal. Weird hunt video for a company to promote and I get they probably spent a fortune on the hunt but you’d think they do a little editing. I guess at least they were being honest about it…

The marksman is a rich dude who has bought a number of governors tags and has used his influence in ID politics to push for more auction tags.

Kryptek might have paid for filming but the big $$ in this deal probably didn't come from them.

Again this goes back to the Matt Rinella article: who does it benefit to produce this? Does this help or hurt the sport? Especially given it was the governor's tag, and that's not exactly a popular slice of hunting in the anti community.

Underrated part of this video: god bless the draw tag holder who knew going in he was sucking hind tit on this hunt. Maybe they're the only guide in that area with access, I don't know, but if I'm looking at an outfitter, hosting TV hunters and/or governor's tags is an immediate red flag that I'm not 100% not getting their best effort. Not saying it won't be a decent hunt, but if I was that draw tag holder and went through that sequence *and* had it on the internet for everyone to see, I"d be upset.

I am sure you’re right which would be an even better reason to tighten up the editing if they felt the need to get something out of their smaller investment of the filming if they’re putting their name on it. Good for them I guess?

It's such a train wreck i cant see how it benefits anyone. I'm critical of how @Mattrinella has lumped all private land or guided hunters into a box but this is a walking talking caricature of how he portrays big $ guided hunts, only uglier.

On the other hand, they showed a lot of ugly which Matt has pointed to folks hiding.

It's frustrating that we constantly have to deal with this BS from so called "top outfitters" in the west, and it seems like social media engagement is the reason they get themselves into trouble, whether it's SMO in Idaho, A3 and Big Chino in Arizona, or WLM and Mossback in Utah.

I haven't seen this from Lance K/Paul Klaus/Dan Montgomery in Alaska or any of the NWT/Yukon outfitters. One would think this kind of stuff could get policed at sheep show, god forbid somebody hold a multi governors tag holder accountable in person rather than like his youtube video and stare at him slack jawed.

Funny you say that, the gov tag holder in this case (Doug Sayer) was the chairman of WSF until 2016 or 2017.

All kinds of good reading on the subject of controversy when Doug was in that position with wsf. I'd like to thank the good folks at hunttalk for sharing.

Cliff notes: in 2016 it was released that Doug was pressing the ID governor to get rid of 2 IDFG commissioners who opposed his push to create more ID auction tags. The governor proceeded to not re-appoint the 2 commissioners who voted against Doug and in line with the residents of ID in this matter. The emails in relation to this were released after a FOIA request IIRC.

What a strange video. Makes me wonder who is Silverline films.

The part where they are measuring the horns while the carcass bakes in the heat was especially poignant. Couldn’t even wait to get it off the hill first.
So that’s an example of a “Trophy hunter” that gets so much negative press.

Don't know why they were tent camping. They were only 10 miles from Lewiston. Definitely a goat rope.

Kind of reminds me of a video I watched several years ago where they made this "Awesome" long range single shot on this bull elk right at dark. They are high fiving for this fantastic single shot bull. As the camera pans back for a more expanded shot of the shooter the camera lights are reflecting off about another half dozen empty cases laying under the rifle on the rock he is laying on.

I read the comments here before I watched the video, so I thought I was prepared for what I was about to see....

No I'm just sitting here kinda confused. Why would anyone want their name and face attached to an ending like this? I understand that this stuff happens, but to put this on the internet with everyone taking turns proudly announcing their name and rank seems foolish.
