Is there a Dr in the house to interpret my MRI?

I talked to the surgeon yesterday he agreed , I need surgery now , not later . He said they would schedule it ASAP , hopefully before Christmas . He was fun , he showed me where the tendons are now and where they are supposed to be , wow , it's a mess .
This is the one I chose , he seems to be compatent and has great reviews , stay tuned more to come ......

Consider yourself fortunate to have gotten into a doctor with those qualifications so quickly. Best wishes on good results. Listen to the PT folks. That advice is of paramount importance. An orthopedic surgeon with those qualifications will have top notch PT folks.

I'm ~8 mo. post-op from a full thickness supraspinatus tear. It was an acute injury and I got surgery as soon as the medical-industrial complex would allow (4 months).

All my doc said after he looked at the MRI was "Congratulations. You tore it clean off!"

Intense rehab was ~6 months but I'm back to 90-95% mobility and 85% strength.

This is my experience too. I felt 95% at 6 months, but knew it was still healing.

Get a good surgeon, follow PT from a good place and then don't stop exercising your shoulder.

You'll be fine for next season.

I agree 100%. A lot of the success of the surgery depends on the postoperative follow-up and how hard the patient will work to recover.

The surgeon was very adamant about explaining just that ^and he made sure I understood him . I told him if he does his part I'll do mine .
The dude came in looking exactly as he does in his bio pics , black slip on shoes , no socks , very GQ , if that's still a thing ? LOL
But I like him and felt relieved after talking with him .

Thought I'd update this thread . The surgery was a success , even though when he got in there it as worse than the MRI showed . My bicep tendon was frayed to the point he decided to replace that also . So three tendons replaced in total .
But the pain was not bad , after the nerve block wore off I just used advils . Even without the Advils the pain was much less than what I had been dealing with pre-op . Two weeks of rehab , stretching mostly , and I have a wide range of motion already .
The PT is in a place close to home and run by a cute little girl . She is very good at what she does , IMO , she takes the time to make sure you understand why you're doing an exercise and what you want to achieve .
My 6 week checkup with the Surgeon was yesterday and he gave me the green light to step up the rehab , slightly .
I'm hoping for a full recovery .

This makes me think of my shoulder surgery PT when I was a strapping young lad of 18 in my college football days. Tore my labrum and rotator cuff and had scar tissue so bad, the surgeon said I had the shoulder of a 55 year old.

Anyway, my PT gal was also cute. Numerous times when laying on the table with her rotating my shoulder and putting me through the exercises, I found myself with an embarrassing protuberance in my britches. Went away quickly each session when they put the cold water device on my shoulder.

Good to hear you are progressing nicely. it's of major importance to have a cute, or maybe beautiful PT. Makes dealing with the pain more tolerable.

You seem to be coming along quite nicely. After my tear, I was at 80% or so after 6 months. Never got back to 100% I would say, 26 years now.
