Is there a Danner boot worthy to use on Elk Hunt?

USA danners re a great boot. But at that price there is a lot of choices and competition.

I have a pair of the Cabela's/Danner Elk Hunters. I don't know if they're made anymore but they are awesome boots. Many miles with no complaints. I have the 600g insulated ones and they are very warm, too warm for early season but they made a lighter insulated model and an uninsulated one as well.

just got an email from Danner..they are having some "up to" 60% off sale right now..heads up..saw some USA boots in the mix.

I have had the USA made Danner Explorer for around 5 years now. Have been very happy with them. Mule deer hunted with them in Idaho's Hells Canyon last hunting season and they did great. I'm gonna send them in for a complete rebuild here soon. Hopefully I still like them after that. Anyone with any experience having them rebuilt?

I would love to support Danner, since they are made in the USA and actually much closer to home for me living in Portland, OR. I have not had good luck with them. I went through 3 pair of one of their best US made boots before the warranty ran out.

The fact that they only have a 1 year warranty (6 months if used for occupation like logging, guiding, etc) tells you all you need to know. And it is not a 1 year warranty for each pair of boots if you need a replacement, it is 1 year from the original purchase date. So it doesn't matter if you get 11 months out of a pair of boots and then your replacments fail after a month...you're screwed. They used to have a lifetime warranty.

Every other high end boot manufacturer in that price range have a lifetime warranty. I have a very difficult time investing that kind of money in a product that the company will only stand behind for a year, or less if you use them for your occupation.

In my opinion their quality went drastically downhill about ten years ago. Promised myself I'd never own another pair.

Mostly their Hipster collection it seems

i just ordered a pair of the hipster boots..hehe..i need a new pair of "something" to run around in my construction office. RETAIL-ME-Not had an awesome coupon code that gave me an additional 20% off..blown away. i got them cheap..cheaper than my current Irish setter slip ons.
