Is there a 25 UM in the works?

You'll need more horsepower than a 25um to get a 135gr bullet moving 3100+ mv from a short barrel to make it hang with a 6um, going up 20gr in bullet weight just adds more recoil. Its going to take 82-85+ gr capacity.

I just went down this road, wanted 156 Bergers going 3050+mv from a 22in barrel. I chose a 7lrm parent case necked down to 65 holding 87.5gr water capacity. This would be my choice for a hotrod short barrel 25 as well. Brass options are limited, but adg does makes the new "G" logo gunwerks brass. The old gunwerks 7lrm brass was made by Hornady and was quite trash, been shooting this case since 2011.

I have a 25-7 prc with absolutely 0 regrets. For me, a 25 UM wouldnt fill a niche that the 25-7 doesn't already cover.
This is an easy button for warp speed.

Also, the 25 Sherman Short Tactical is nearly identical to the 6 UM 30. I shoot my 21” at 3150 fps with a bit more to go if I wanted.

The 6 UM is unique because Rokslide and the small caliber ethos. Like you, most can’t dream of shooting a little caliber bullet, so the wildcats kinda end at 25 cal. I came from 7mm 180 gr at 3050, then 257 133 gr at 3150. The difference in massive wounding was inconsequential, and I was shooting smaller and smaller, discovering it on my own. Had I known what I know now, I would skip right to 6mm.

If you can’t go 6 mm, then a fast 25 is so much more fun and easy to shoot, with all the benefits of a big caliber at 133-135.

For what its worth. The move from a 25-284 to a 25-7 was a marginal but noticeable increase in recoil. My want for a shorter barrel drove me to the decision.

The 25 cal is in that betweener spot that is still a “hunting caliber” and you can get speeds up in short barrel without punishing recoil.

It is for the ones who want a 6 UM/PRC but just can’t buy in completely to the small caliber fest.

The main reason I wouldn’t want to go as small as the 6 UM is that I might want to go after something bigger than a giraffe sometime. 😀
You couldn't pay me to go bigger than a 133g 25 or 140g 6.5. Well....everything has a price i guess. But you get the point!
