Is Kifaru moving manufacturing overseas?

In all seriousness, I would agree that Kifaru is currently lacking engagement on Rokslide. I'm not really on social media at the moment (aside from FB for marketplace and rifle shooting groups) so I don't really have any input on that aspect.

I think one thing that made Kifaru successful over the years was the availability for customers to engage with employees via forums and social media. That looks to have tapered off quite a bit especially recently.

I can only assume they are looking at developing new strategies with the 'departure' of A.S. I think they have some smart and capable people working there and will get things back on course.
I called Kifaru about 6 months ago, needing to replace some aluminum stays for an old timberline. As they no longer offer those, I was basically told to eat a bag of dicks. That would have never flown with Patrick or Angie. Miss those days and I'm disappointed to see the company go the way it's going, but I won't be a customer any longer. SG CS has been fantastic and I've gone that route.

@FrankieP1988, I don't know if Kifaru has called, but they should. They seem to be lacking a credible face of the company. Not that this is required to build quality products, but it does help get the message out and lend credibility to the testing. Being away, I'm sure you have some new fresh ideas too!

I've spoken to the Kifaru crew and we are on good terms. I think it would be pretty difficult for me at the moment to fit in more work with my current school and work schedule. Not saying it would be impossible, but it would have to be a pretty lucrative deal.

Are these 100% made in the USA but sourced materials from overseas? I wonder if that's the difference that brings it to the $65 range.
No, the 65 is garbage, America doesn’t import much raw cotton, it does textile, but the t shirt guys that are selling 100% USA made and grown t shirts or clothing like Origin are buying US grown and are very proud to state it.

Yeah they were going to move to China. Not sure if that's still in works or not. Word is since Snyder left they're really struggling.

I think this is all speculative, it would be really nice if Kifaru would set the story straight

I think the narrative of Aron leaving Kifaru because they planned on making products overseas doesn't really make sense considering Born Primitive makes most of their stuff overseas. I also find it hard to believe that as an alleged owner, he didn't have more input to steer the company in a different direction instead of just quitting. Clearly, there is more to the story...

Since Born Primitive was brought up and since the thread is about where products are made I will share the following. This is from Born Primitive, Jan 2025, in response to being asked where the men's layering system and men's shoes are made...

Hello [redacted],

Thank you for reaching out about the origin of our men's outdoor layering system items and men's shoes!

We deeply appreciate the importance of supporting domestic manufacturing and would love to be able to source all our materials within the United States. However, the U.S. textile industry currently faces limitations in capacity and infrastructure that make this challenging on a large scale. By sourcing materials globally, we can ensure that our products meet high-quality standards while remaining affordable for our customers.

That said, we’re excited to share that our Tactical line will soon be TAA/Berry compliant, meaning it will adhere to strict regulations requiring materials and production to be sourced in the United States or other approved countries. This is a step forward in our commitment to expanding our domestic production capabilities.

We truly appreciate your understanding and support as we continue striving to provide you with the best products at accessible prices.

For more information on our brand and mission, feel free to visit the About Us section on our website. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a wonderful day!

Best regards
