Is it too late to get a CA bear in the Sierras? (mid-late November)

2 questions :

1) Is it too late to get a bear in the Sierras?
I know the season goes until the end of the year. It seems the later in the season it gets, the harder it is to turn up any bears. Now, after all the snow the mountains have gotten recently, is it a futile mission to try and find a bear in the Southern Sierras? (Mid-late November)

2) If so, what do you think they would be eating?

There are active bears locally and we have snow on the ground. I would be looking at or below the snow line and find the food sources- acorns, fruit trees.....
