Been busy turkey hunting and mowing grass, it's been raining every day. I try to eat clean and exercise every day and been shooting my bow. So I'm really ready and could leave tomorrow if I had to, on my DIY public land Montana elk bow hunt.

Waiting for October here. Our units in Colorado for archery went to draw only for non-residents. Cant come soon enough though.

So I take it you opted for OTC second rifle? Instead of trying to draw. Are you saving points? Or just want the certainty of knowing you will have a tag?

Couldn't work out my schedule this year for the archery draw. Yes, second rifle OTC, and saving points.

I'm in the same boat as this guy. Have knocked several long beards down and grass has been mowed. Big trailer is getting new tires tomorrow. Will not be long.

We ended up with too many tags for the first time in my life. Between my wife and I we have 3 elk tags and 2 mile deer tags. I’ve got some anxiety about it, but it will happen how it’s supposed to.

I sure love September but each year I find myself loving the summer scouting more and more. It seems like as soon as September arrives its over. The summer months July and August help make September last a little longer!

Unfortunately probably not… people are grabbing as many as they can and hunting as many states as they can… I don’t see western hunting getting easier to get tags. I hope I am really wrong on this but I doubt it…

As the hunting population dies off, as the social media “influencer “ system looses its coolness, and when Americans continue to get lazier, that’s what I’m hoping will bring normal tag availability back.

MT has like 3 months of nice weather. Get the fishing in while you can. Then it’s time to focus on big game hunts.

Can’t wait for September too. Already working around my schedule and planning a couple of scouting trips in late September and into October for the 1st rifle season. Getting fired up
