Is it September yet? Who is with me

Morrel hunting, bear hunting, turkey hunting, floating the rivers and then elk hunting will be here. I'll be plenty busy having fun until then, it will fly by.

Who knows, I might even draw moose, antelope, sheep, goat or bison in the meantime.

Busy with kids and work, I’m always excited but another year of limited hunting time with 2 littles and another on the way. I need to get muzzy dialed back in with new bullet/powder combo. Get some stuff squared away at my families cabin, I’ll be excited come September that’s for sure, but it’s a ways off

Too much stuff between now and then to get fixated on my hunt. However it'll be my first hunt out west and my first elk hunt to boot. October is going to be a great month!

But we have a lot of fishing ahead of us not to mention all the prep for deer season here in the south.

For me, I get the bug opening day of dove season. That's when it just feels like it's time.

If, on April 22nd, all I'm thinking is about elk season and start a thread about it, I need more stuff to do. And I probably live in an elk-less state where I'm consumed about spending thousands to travel out of state.

No wonder there are deer overpopulation problems in so many states, guys ignore what's in their backyard, lol.

Lol, love to hear folks out busting the brush to find dead and shed bone the ground. Find them on an animal during hunting season, let them live in peace during the vulnerable times. Geesh.

Lol, shed hunting is an intrusion on animals trying to birth their young and raise their young. It's not debatable. It's selfish and that's the bottom line. Compensation.

Just like the word vegetarian is a synonym for a bad hunter, shed Hunter is a synonym to "Can't find my own in the fall during hunting season/ got to impress my friends on social media, otherwise I wouldn't be out here".

Calling names without any backing is a pretty weak comeback, just like shed hunting itself.

I hope your day goes better for you today than it was yesterday. I appreciate the positive input to my thread

I try not to think about September until I have a tag in my pocket.

The anxiety I encounter every spring during application season is real.
This is probably some of the reason that I am thinking about it already. I was able to get a nonresident tag for Idaho, which is almost like winning the lottery.

Life stuff has made this past year exhausting, and it's likely not letting up any time soon. I'm excited, but also wondering how I'll have the energy to get after it. Oh, responsibility...

Patiently waiting. Have been running into a lot of bulls right below snowline and have found quite a few rutting areas that I didn't know about while backcountry skiing this spring

Yesterday my alarm went off at 4:30, last thing I wanted to do was do a workout, so I reminded myself the more I kick myself in the ass now the easier and more enjoyable hunting season will be this fall.

Still can’t wait for fall, but realized I will use the time and try to enjoy the prep for the hunt.

This is the truth. If you are an archery elk hunter you better be chasing turkeys. Very similar experience and tags are super easy to get. And then morel hunting is the adult equivalent of an easter egg hunt. Doesn't hurt that morels go excellently with ALL wild game.

I hear ya brother. I have a busy year to get ready for. Just got back from 3 amazing days digging razor clams. July 1st we start crabbing, then on to salmon fishing for 6 weeks on and off. Drew our multi-season deer permit so will start muzzleloader hunting late September, rifle hunting a few weeks later. Then on to rifle elk late October and rifle deer in Missouri. BRING IT!!

Every Friday a buddy and myself wake up early and hit the trial with our packs. Thankful for him or there would be many mornings that I just roll over and go back to bed!

Due to sub-par snow year, started seeing elk past 9,000' a week ago here in CO (didn't see any this high till the end of May the past 2 years). Hoping for a rainy summer, but at least this has helped kick my motivation into gear. Potato-quality handheld bino shot to fuel the stoke: IMG_0994rs.jpg
