Is anyone else concerned?

So, right now we are literally on the brink of a full on war with Russia. None of the news networks are talking about this. I know many of you think Fox News is the only "real" news. I've been watching them for over an hour this morning and they haven't mentioned it once. This should be the number one story on every network. Right now, Europe is preparing for war. They are telling people to stock up on supplies. Nato is mobilizing troops. Biden is expediting more long range weapons to Ukraine. In the US we are just giddy about people doing the Trump dance and outraged about some nonsense of the day. We are a country of self indulgent idiots.

I heard a quote that really stuck with me. The big difference between the media in China, N.Korea and the USA is this: The people of China and N.Korea know their news is all lies and propaganda. We think our news is still telling us the truth.

I know this will get locked but I think this is really important. Our military is weak, military aged males from enemy countries have come across the border and our entire government, Republicans and Democrats are trying to start a war with Russia. WTF?

You're at the end of a 4 year clown show. 5 years ago Trump was in every country listed and shaking hands and probably heads (wink). Trump is 60ish days away from the seat. Do you really think any country wants to FAFO if he's full of shit or not? I assure you they do not.

1. We are insulated from Europe. I don't think any country is crazy enough to try and invade the US.
2. The military age people that have come in the US I don't see as a real threat. Yes they could attack and cause some caos but not loose the country to then.
3. Even with our weakened military we still I think have more ability than almost all of the world. Russia is using weapons that are way behind in tech.

I'm more nervous about the .gov buying cheap ass critical parts from lowest bidders (china) than a military attack. When your critical infrastructure is relying on Chinese fasteners, data connections, hard parts and computers.....that's more of a problem than some emotional fat kid in nork.

European members of NATO took the "peace dividends" when the Soviet Union collapsed. NATO has no effective combat power without the US. The European nations are rattling sabers for their own internal domestic reasons. Trump highlighted that in his first term as he challenged the NATI nations to invest into their militaries as required by the NATO agreement.

Russia has proven its military prowess on the battlefield— take Ukraine in two weeks, a 1000 days later……

Their economy is inching towards collapse, they are dusting off WW II tanks and artillery, they’ve had an exodus of 300,000+ of military age males, they’ve lost up to a third of their Black Sea navy and having to rely on Iran and North Korea for munitions (and recently for infantry).

Yeah I think there are more things concerning than Russia as a military threat.

I'd say yes we are concerned about Russia, but China is the more pressing threat. For the entirety of my career, I've been hearing "conflict with China is imminent!" Granted, a large part of that is professional fearmongering and anxiety, but there are elements of truth to it.

China claims it only wants Taiwan. Will we defend Taiwan?

Hitler claimed he only wanted the Sudetenland. No one defended Czechoslovakia when he invaded.

....

Something will happen. When and how remains to be seen. We're already fighting it on the cyber front.

I have no interest in promoting this thread, but I'm kind of going to. Your right on all accounts you listed, but the question then is, wouldn't they be more likely and willing to turn the keys and launch a nuke?

^ One never knows, but I don't think it would be in their best interest for potentially near global destruction. I would have to guess most of their generals probably aren't overly enthralled about Putin. Giving an order to launch nukes could very well result in Putin no longer among the living and I don't mean from a retaliatory strike.
