Old thread....I was just relaying the information of two seemingly well conducted test and the discrepancy of performance results. Gel test vs. push force test.
The 2 blade heads slide in effortlessly. There is no question that these are THE most efficient design when you want the arrow to pass through and the animal doesn't even feel it. I would agree this is a big advantage.
Why does Levis test make Mech heads look good? Because our Bows- and his especially- have so much excess energy it's nuts. Levi is shooting 80#, a 31" DL and a 530g arrow at over 300 fps. Just about any BH works with that much excess energy.
Think about it, there are kids running arrows through deer with 30# recurves. The amount of potential energy in a 70# Compound might be as much as 5x of what we need....thus the inefficient Mech designs that need more energy work.
Keep in mind with Levi, He will take very long shots on animals- sets up his bow for 120y according to his latest Video "Lets talk about arrows"- oh man he lays into the internet hacks like Ranch Fairy in that vid.
Edit; Here...it's good once you get past his arrow pitch.
The guy is legitimately one of the best shots in the world. So where my arrow with a big 2 or 3 blade fixed BH is affected a little bit at 70,80 yards and further....he prioritizes his setup to be less affected for shots out past 80y- makes sense.
It's all about your priorities and distances you are shooting. It's important to me that I get 2 holes and the animal doesn't have an arrow hanging out of it pushing it into another zip code.....I will never be shooting 120y.
