Iron Will Broadheads

I shoot the S100 single bevel. They have flown well for me and are a very tough head. I would probably also look at the Evolution fixed blade if I were buying new as I have heard they fly really good and are quite a bit less expensive. Overall the Iron Will has been a great head for me just costly.

I have shot them both out of a compound and out of my recurve for a few years and they flew and performed great on animals out of each. Pretty sure they saved me on a mule deer a few years ago in South Dakota. The buck was quartering away slightly but alert when I shot and he ducked and turned to Run as the arrow was on its way. It ended up being a very steep quartering away shot by the time it got there but luckily due to the cut on contact head and build quality it buried right in even on the steep angle, went through some bone and ended up killing the buck very quickly.

Really doesn't matter which model you choose. If you are unsure of which way your fletching goes than just use the double bevel. If you aren't great at tuning just stick to the standard size. If you hunt in wet climates and do not like to do broadhead maintenance then I would look at the Day6. It's Stainless and really very similar if this is the type of head you want.

they rust and chip pretty easily, but they fly well enough. The warranty process is more complicated than needs to be..

I have had no issues with mine chipping or rusting but I keep em oiled. I will never use a different broadhead the SB100 left bevels have done me well even the S100 double bevels. Been using them for 4 years now and have not lost an animal yet..

I shot three Whitetails with Ironwill heads. Side note that I am colorblind. Shot a doe with a 100 gr single bevel. Nonexistent blood trail and finished her with my recurve. Lost a 180 class buck with a wide. Shot him low. Good amount of blood. Killed another whitetail with a wide 100. Didn’t go far. Dulled a head really bad and they wouldn’t exchange it. I don’t want to resharpen these heads so I moved on to Evolution heads.

I’ve owned and used Iron Will S100’s and the 100 Wides. Great heads, well built, packaged etc..

Compared to QAD Exodus, Sevr, Slick Trick etc and they truly 2-3x “better”? In my opinion, no. The only thing 2-3x more is the cost of the Iron Will.

I will be testing and reviewing the wides this fall. 125 gr with 10 gr collar and 15 gr hit insert in Easton Axis 4mm. Looking forward to see how they do!

The corrosion is really a buzz kill with them. I’m trying daysix heads this year.

Overrated and overpriced. I drank the IW Kool-Aid to the tune of 400.00 ish. They will do nothing a Slick trick, QAD Exodus of a Magnus Black hornet will not do at 1/3 the price. And the lifetime warrantee is a joke.. And as mentioned the corrosion is awful. Had 3 in my gun safe w humidity control, they corroded. IW said ya that will happen.

IW's aren't for everyone. Pricey? Yes. Tough and hold an edge? Yes

I put one through a spine on a small deer last season.. Literally snapped the spinal column in 2. The vertebra was broken in 1/2. Zero chatter or chipping and still razor sharp. This was a SB150.

Sharpness is #1 and edge integrity is only takeaway you should get from Ranch Fairy. You don't need anything other than that. So for a broadhead you want a tough blade that holds an edge. You can get a magnus super sharp but the blades are not super tough. (i still have a magnus or two sitting on standby).

As for corroding, they're just as susceptible as a nice carbon steel blade. A little oil or blade wax will keep the blades from corroding

I agree with the others, they rust quickly which is annoying and chip easily. I sold all of mine and am shooting Evolution heads currently. The solid heads aren't super forgiving but fly well, I've shot several fixed heads that will fly better that IW, and yes I tune my bows well. IMO the biggest thing they have going for them is how they are marketed, they really don't do anything 90% of other heads will do.
Several other broadhead companies make great heads and have a great warranty department, I've dealt with a couple and have had heads replaced no questions asked, but considering the price, it is unfortunate that IW is pushing back on warranty claims.

Im in the same boat. Was hoping for them to hold up better with the price they ask for. Live and learn!

Yes sir. And the warrantee is a joke. Have a S100 no matter what I do the bleeder was loose. Contacted IW and sent them a video. Was told not to worry about it.

The corrosion is a pain. If kept oiled it helps but oiling a broadhead every time I take it out of a quiver isn't something I wanted to do. I did shoot a buck at roughly 5 yards with an s100. Passed through and deer piled in 30 yards. Broadhead went into the dirt and chipped beyond repair. I really wanted to be on board with them. (Great marketing) but I'll never shoot them again.

Single bevel left solid wide 150's with bleeders perform even better in my opinion. Same penetration with bigger cut, and fly like field points out to ~60 yards.

I'd stay away from vented, they are very loud!
Stand behind a target and have a friend shoot solid vs vented with same fletchings (aae max stealth) and you can hear a large difference.

I know this is an older thread, but I hope I’m not too late for this! Please don’t take this advice and stand behind a target while some one shoots arrows at you! Wow. I don’t disagree that vented broadheads are loud. Just take our word for it and don’t do this.

And just my .02 on IW broadheads, I’ve shot the same 200 grain single bevel through 5 whitetails into the dirt on the other side and used the same broadhead for all my target shooting for the last 3 years and only had to do light touch ups on a stone to keep it sharp. Nothing more fool proof for sharpening than single bevels in my opinion. I think at this rate my 3 pack is on pace to last me at least 12 years or more short of losing one in the snow or something.

Shot 3 deer and a cow elk this year. Shooting 100 grain dual bevel standards with the 25gn impact collar and 50 brass insert on 300 spine rip tko with a 450 total arrow weight, max left helical on bitz 295 fps. Best arrow setup I have ever had, with very little tuning they group out to 90, slightly more drop, maybe 1-2”, out to 70 they’re right there. Purposely shot a large doe quartering to, I knew it would work, didn’t expect it to go 6-9” into the ground on exit. Shit went 20yds. The others were all center punch and had goodish blood. This is what I would say is the biggest down side. Haven’t lost an animal with one though. Shot three does with the same head. A few minutes on the hone and a quick spin and you’re dialed. If you can’t shoot sharpen a knife you can sharpen these. Did bend a bleeder on the second deer. Kept shooting it

Well, I'd say sharpening a solid 3 blade is definitely more foolproof. Lay it flat and a stone and pull it to you. Doesn't get easier than that!

I love my iron wills but man that steel is hard it holds an edge forever but if you let them go too far they take forever to sharpen back up. Not a dis towards them just a trade off of the material
