Interesting bullet expansion study.

Yep. That is an interesting article. I can confirm that Barnes LRX fired from my 270 this fall did great on a cow elk at 250 yards. The shot was broadside and went through and through. No bullet recovered but it seemed to have a nice wound channel and went through multiple ribs. She only went 60 yards after the shot.

I wonder if the Norma Evostrike would be a good option for those who need/want non leaded bullets but also want fragmentation.

I'm curious about what kind of differance we might see from larger/slower bullets. From my experience, 270s are more of an anomaly than 06, 300 win mag or 7mm.

"The 238m distance was roughly the longest distance we could reliably hit the water trap [gallon miilk jug] with the different ammunition" using a "Caldwell The Lead Sled Solo Recoil-Reducing Shooting Rest" to shoot a 270win.

It was a neat way to capture the fragments, can they be reclaimed from gel?
The larger ones can but (I didnt read the whole report so they could have) you can evaporate off the water and recover basically all fragments reguardless of size. It woukd be very very hard if not impossible to do so efficiently.
