Just wondering if any of you guys put insurance on all/most of your hunting gear? I have seen hunters travel insurance for gear but not for everything you have in the house. After adding everything up this weekend it would really suck so lose it all if a disaster would occur.

Homeowner Ins. will cover it IF ON YOUR PROPERTY (not while truck is parked on public street though),
up to the policy limit, unless you've added a rider to bump that up.
I have a 50K rider just for my guy stuff; firearms, packs & gear.
I think the OP was asking about coverage OUTSIDE the home, like camp, truck, etc.
That I don't know, but I'm sure they sell coverage for any situation you can think of.

Yeah you'd think they would have a dedicated insurance company for that stuff by now.

I use some on my trips for guns and optics. Special rider on homeowners policy is my recall, Inland Marine coverage. Cost per value you put on the items. Can be pricey.

Most homeowners insurance coverage does not include firearms, even on your property. You need an addendum on the policy.

Not all insurance is the same! I have an umbrella policy for house and vehicles...it covers everything under the sun and only one deductible. My insurance has been a dream when dealing with claims.

I have my guns and large hunting items "itemized" which covers them if they are stolen, damaged, thrown off the cliff, etc. This is an addition to my homeowners insurance, otherwise my homeowners would cover it only if on the property.

I just got out of my agents office and it's called Inland Marine. Just like Aron said, it covers them if they are broken, stolen, and what not wherever they are. Not just in your home. Great policy, they said cost wise it was 1.85 per 100$ of gear.

My business is insurance here in nc. I have been an agent for 22 years. Homeowners ins covers personal property on or off your property. The difference is the limit. You have a 10% limit off premise for coverage. In most cases, this allows 10k or more depending on how much contents you have. Firearms are also covered but more limited basis. Same goes for camera equipment and such . Inland marine coverage can be scheduled, as mentioned for a small fee. The good thing is that you will normally have a lower deductible on those items. Usually homeowner deductibles are 500 or 1000 & up. Inland marine covers mysterious disappearance, which a homeowner policy does not. Hope this helps.
