Found a very accurate mono metal load with the 177gr. Hammer Hunters yesterday. Went out today to check velocity and long range ballistics. But before we did any shooting we did some coyote calling. I killed this coyote at 330 yards with the new load while my buddy was watching over my shoulder. He immediately said how crazy watching the vapor trail was. We later did all of our shooting and he videotaped some shots. These are screenshots from the videos. Neither of us have seen vapor trails this prominent before. These bullets do have a large hollow point and we verified, through ballistic calculations and verified drop at 1100 yards, that they have a G7 BC of about .251. So they’re definitely displacing a lot of air during flight. Pretty cool findings from today though.

Gun is a 28 Nosler with 1-8 twist 26” barrel
Load: ADG Brass.
82gr. N570
Close to lands, don’t know exactly though
Velocity 3228-3262 (not super great ES)65DA5112-3820-4A61-98D0-0873BE885D9F.jpegE2958289-8879-42FC-AFFB-5BF4A37370F7.jpegB9A065E0-E422-4E37-AAE2-D72D95C4E3A6.jpegA8FBE318-9B87-447F-834D-DA10DFA7A8DA.jpeg

What stock are you running?
this is an AG composites IBEX stock
Do you mind if I post these photos to another site? They're an awesome visual representation of spin drift!
Dont mind at all!!

All I called the bullet manufacturer to ask about the prominent vapor trail. He said its very common and from left over fluids inside the hollow point after machining!!

Thats awesome, never seen anything like that. Best I've seen was my own trail and it looked like a shinny quarter flying through the air

Today I learned bullets fly in a spiral pattern! Always thought it was straight (though with an arc, of course).

Not really....it's the bullet spinning with the vapor trail expanding from center the makes it look like it's spiraling. Kind of like how mud spins off a tire or maybe more similar to the expanding vapor trail out of a jet engine

definitely...the amount on nonsense I read on the internet in the last 20 days has my BS/Joke meter broken. I need a laughing emoji or a lol these days

My comment when I realized it went way over my head reminds me of Dumb and Dumber: "You'll have to excuse my friend. He's a little slow..." :ROFLMAO:

Great photos! I have a question about your Lab Radar. It looks like you have it positioned pretty far back near the action of the rifle. Have you tried running it up closer to the front of your barrel? Curious what velocity difference you notice if you have. Thanks.
