Loading up some 85.5 Bergers in the kids 22 creed.
Using the basic Hornady seater. My goal is 2.706 but it seems it swings from that to 2.710 or 2.708. Kind of all over the place.
Would a better high end die fix this? I doubt I can shoot the difference. Ha I know I can't but I hate knowing they're not all the same.
Tried both seating stems too. No different.
What's going on here?

My experience with slightly inconsistent seating was with brass that was too clean from wet tumbling and there was too much friction. Doing a final dry tumble has provided way better seating for me.

Could be. I use a sonic mainly with some dawn to wash off the resizing lube. Then dry them in the oven on low.
Is my neck tension too tight? .250 is what bushing the math said it should be. Doesn't feel that tight.

Is the load compressed?

Are you measuring COAL or base to ogive with a comparator? I don’t measure COAL - you’ll see variance like this due to meplats, plastic tips, etc. Ogive tends to be more consistent.

I agree though- I don’t think you’ll be able to shoot the difference (even if these were base to ogive measurements).

Oh shoot! Yeah just coal.
I'll pick up a comparator.
Thanks!
