Thanks to Microsoft's greedy little idea of forcing everyone to upgrade to a new operating system I found myself with a new computer with windows 8. And now I find out that TOPO won't work on it! So not happy! It is my primary scouting tool and I have all of my gps waypoints saved through it.

So I am trying to play catch up now, seeing if there are any fixes or what guys are using in its place. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scot E.

First , get rid of Windows. Either Linux or buy an Apple. I'm on a tablet these days but when I break down and buy a "real" computer again I'm damn sure not going to be Microsoft's biatch again.

Sigh of relief! :) I got to messing around and realized that you can make it work if it is loaded in the program files (x86) file and copied over not installed from the CD which requires a lot of upgrades. All is well and it is blazing fast now!

Why were you required to "upgrade" to Windows 8? I just downgraded to Windows 7 from XP because my hard drive crashed and I figured I better since XP isn't supported anymore. I've heard that Windows 9 is going to be more like XP........hopefully.
