IMR 4350 worth picking up?

Found some IMR 4350 on the shelf at a local shop. I have a good amount of H4350. Was wondering if this is worth grabbing some or would it be redundant with what I already have in H4350?

H4350 is supposed to be more temp stable. IMR might give slightly different results, but when I've seen it on the shelf I pass because of the $74 / LB price.

Yeah this was $62 a LB, but so was H4350. I went ahead and just snagged another H4350 since I haven’t had a reason to change, just wasn’t sure if I was missing out on anything, thanks for the reply

They have slightly different burn rates and technically H4350 is more stable but IMR4350 is generally fine. I wouldn't go switching from H to IMR needlessly though if you are used to H and can still get it.

I get more speed from IMR than I do the H variety.

Back before IMR folded and was sold at scrap value, everyone used IMR, and H was simply the less expensive option. Now I’ll bet both come out of the same plant with a tiny tweak to make them seem different, or fast lots become IMR and slow lots are H. Marketing drives a lot of weird powders nowadays.

IMR 4350 has been my go-to for numerous calibers for nearly 40 years. You might be an old fart if you remember the rectangular metal cans it was sold in.

Bought in the early 80's I believe in Great Falls. I still have 6 of these that are full and have never been opened.

To the OP, IMR4350 is my go to for medium rifle cases with mid to heavy weight bullets. Always a very consistent powder without any weird tendencies.

I prefer hodgdon over IMR. I have one jug of IMR and about 4 of H4350. It's just what I've had luck with but put in more time with it too. However, locally IMR is $79.99. H4350 was $56. No brainer.

I personally like the vihtavuori powders now more than ever. N160/N165 in that burn rate range. The price hasn't gone up nearly as much as Hodgdon lines. The Vihtavuori powders always give some of my lowest ES and SD.

IMR 4350 was the most available powder to me when I started reloading in 2021. Bought a bunch second hand and in stores when it was there. This year is the first time I’ve ever loaded with H4350. The IMR worked great for me though.

You still have a reloading cabinet?
I thought covid taught everyone to have an underground reloading bunker/warehouse?

I think that was the powder Roy Weatherby was pretty fond of. I use it in 7 RM and 30-06. Really accurate and easy to find compared to the extreme powders.

IMR 4350 is the powder I started reloading with 30 years ago. It shoots good in everything from 6.5 to .338 for me. I've wanted to experiment with other more "reasonably priced" powders but I would burn through a couple pounds of powder finding new loads,

I no longer shoot any calibers that I use with IMR 4350 but over the years (since the early 60's) I've found I got better accuracy with IMR 4350 than any other powder tried and that includes H4350!
