I'm I the only one who fears a solo hunt...

One of the best parts about being solo. You and your thoughts. Most of my hunting time is spent alone and I find I still get on alert from time to time haha.

Just do an overnight at first, then a full weekend, work into a full week. I just spent 8 days solo in AZ in a unit I'd never been. If it scares you it's prob worth doing.

Going solo the past few years has been one of the most liberating and enjoyable experiences of my life. But then I hunted solo a lot as a youth - just under less remote circumstances.

I just finished a 3 night solo buffalo hunt in Northern BC. I sledded back in 50km and slept in a pup tent. My biggest fear was keeping my beer from freezing! Actually, my biggest fear was my sled breaking down! I got as far as 100km [60 miles] back from my truck. I did have plenty of survival gear but a guy never knows!

Heck yeah, I always worry about issues with my sled, that’s why I have a few of them so I always have one in perfect working order. What kind do you have?

I think it's silly not to have a small dose of fear any time you're out in the woods, at the bank, or even in the liquor store. What I've learned is to be mindful of that fear, but don't let it get the best of you because the pros of those activities (typically) FAR outweigh the cons.

I've always loved hunting alone because I can stay wherever I please and go wherever I want whenever I want, with nobody to whine and complain, but also because of the solitude and I feel like I'm more immersed and closer to nature and the surroundings, and it's a perfect time to get closer and focus on my Creator.
Going with some buddies has it's benefits though.

I prefer solo hunting and camping together at night. That was until my boys were old enough to hunt, now that experience trumps all before. When they move on I’m sure I’ll still live to hunt but it will never be the same....

I’m usually solo due to nobody to go with but the only time it bothers me is when I get back to my camp and it’s kinda boring not having someone to talk to about your day and hear about theirs.

You nailed it. The first few nights every sound you hear makes you think some crazy stuff. When your mind quits messing with you, it becomes absolute peace and super relaxing. Nothing like doing exactly what you want at exactly your pace.
I found it to be totally like that. Take a addvil pm before bed. I like a solo tent at night. Keeps the bugs off me.

I hunt by myself a lot. I like doing what I want, when I want with out arguing or explaining why or why not but I think a week by myself is typically long enough before I start to miss having other guys around.
