Illinois taxing ammunition per round purchased

I heard this today and was wondering if it is true, anyone else have notice or in put on this.

I think Cook County has been taxing ammo for several years. I don't know about the state or other counties.

Edit: Tax was thrown out by Illinois Supreme Court in October.

Off topic but I was pleased to see a nice selection of ammo in a CT cabelas while passing thru. Got to the counter with a couple of boxes of hunting ammo. “Sorry you have to have a state ID card to purchase ammo. Only CT residents.“. OK. 1000 cuts my friends. I hate to agree with the NRA these days but it is true what they say, A little tax here and a little restriction there. Slow strangulation.
