I'll take it doesn't mean much

I have had good luck in forum classifieds.
I only buy if it’s a great deal and I pay what is asked. That is somewhat rare these days. If I can’t save a good bit I just buy new from a trusted retailer and not worry about. Saving 10-15% isn’t worth it to me. But everyone has their own way of doing things. So many scammers these days I wouldn’t buy anything off a forum that I couldn’t afford to lose the money.

If the buyer PMs the seller it’s generally good to go.
The problem lies in if the buyer says they will take it publicly. Then a scammer creates a very good look alike name, usually it’s the same members name but with a period at the end.
Scam vs Scam.

And they hope to have your money before anyone notices the slight change.
Text me and I’m not expecting it, good luck.

Also shipping is so terrible and low balling so prevalent on here now it’s hardly worth selling anything anymore.
I just offer stuff for free or toss it these days unless it’s a little more spendy.

But low ball offers will be ignored, my grouchy butt is always sitting on the edge of a ban, so I can’t be getting into it with anyone.
I’ll hear respectful offers, but other then that, if my price is to high then it won’t sell and I’ll ether not sell it, or lower the price on my terms.

But people have to realize it’s $14 to ship a padded envelope now.

It absolutely doesn't default to being low ball offers but I appreciate your input. ............. I also dont usually offer any amount but chose to kindly ask what someone would consider taking for something. I wouldn't call that lowballing.

Your posts show otherwise. Most recent being those TTSX's

You do also realize that it costs money to ship things right? What do you think that primed 44 brass woulda cost to ship?

I can see tossing out an offer on something that was a couple grand or more. But here you are tossing out offers on $60 items that you want shipped for free. :ROFLMAO: And you wonder why people ignore your posts and sell to somebody else? :ROFLMAO: I'd toss my stuff in the trash before I sold to somebody playing that game.

I am not looking to make folks mad

Lordy, he even has a few "is this still available" posts.

“What will you take?” is a nonstarter for me. I told you what I will take: the asking price. That’s my offer. It’s on you to accept my offer or make a counteroffer. If I like your counteroffer, I’ll take it.

But it’s not very polite to say, “I know you say you want $100, but what is really your lowest acceptable price? Maybe if I like your real price, I will accept.” I won’t tell you to GTFO, but I sure won’t play that game. Make a sincere offer in good faith.
Couldn't agree more. The "just tell me whats the lowest you're willing to go" is such a rediculous bartering tactic; you want me to enter a bidding war against myself?

I often sell to known and established members. Even with offers from others I will choose who is the less risky buyer. Less risk of a deal falling through or problems happening with someone I have been sharing information with for years. This is especially true on high price items.

Example…. The OP has nearly no posts on anything g but buying and selling. This is a red flag for me. I’d much rather sell to someone who has been on here sharing information and developed a reputation. Less risk involved imo.

100% this but I don't even care about risk mitigation. In my mind this isn't a garage sale or Craigslist, the classifieds are more for active members who want to exchange gear with like minded individuals. You wanna run a thrift shop do it on eBay or Etsy.

meh I dont mind it. Long as they dont go filling up an entire page at a time. Those ones go on ignore pretty quick.

Yep, me too. Haven't done a lot on here but used to buy and sell a bit on Archery Talk. I always always look at post history and engagement on the forum I am on. I don't respond to "is this still available" Learned that on marketplace. Typically newbs (FNG's) don't get a response as I just think they are here to try and sell something, then you never see them again. OP, just be patient, if you are really engaged and build some kind of reputation, you won't have any issues.

I'll take the criticism, I'm learning and so far the ones that I have bought from either appreciated the offer or said this is my best. I am interested in a fair buy just like everyone else. I am not buying retail so I will take the advice of a few and keep scrolling when its too high. Then I will continue to buy new from a secure seller most times meeting free shipping requirements. To everyone that I have bought from, you have been great an easy to talk to and I am grateful. I will adjust my buying methods.
