"I'll take it" is barely a step above "Is this available".

"I'll take it for $XXX, what payment method do you want (is XXX ok?), here is my shipping address." Is how I message sellers.

I also don't give a flying F what people post publicly on a thread, the PM is where the deal happens and all the important info is. I can't remember if it was here or another forum that someone was crying about not getting to buy something from me because they were 4 hours late to a guy that just sent me a PM. I didn't feel bad and had no interest in explaining myself. I try to be as fair and as transparent as possible, but you as a buyer are entitled to nothing until an agreement is reach and/or funds are transferred. The entitlement piece is probably the problem here.

Pro Tips:

If something is listed close to retail, don't engage.

If the word "CUSTOM" is emphasized in the thread title, don't look.

The more emphasis the seller puts on the quality and condition of the product ie. laying it on thick, the more likely you're getting something with a cigarette burn or snag or stain.

"Never Worn" doesn't mean that their Pomeranian didn't sleep on it.

You forgot to add the word RARE! I always know that sucker is going to sit in the classifieds when the title says that.

I also dont usually offer any amount but chose to kindly ask what someone would consider taking for something. I wouldn't call that lowballing.

I don't know about everyone else, but when I get this question, I either don't respond or I tell you the asking price.

If I say "make an offer", make an offer and I will say yes or no. Crazy lowball offers get crazy dumb responses.

Pm whoever is selling something if you are interested. Unless I say otherwise, timestamp on pm's trump for me. If I get multiple PM's, I give the first guy the chance to match a competing offer or if he offers full price, it's his.

I don't know about everyone else, but when I get this question, I either don't respond or I tell you the asking price. .

I respond with an amount higher than asking price, it's always funny when they're like what wait I thought it was $xxx. Then I reply stating they drive a hard bargain but I'll accept the offer.

There are a lot of guys who think they're clever negotiators, following time-tested rules like "Never make the first offer", or lowball hard with a crazy offer and let them talk you up, never split the difference, find out their real reason for selling as leverage, etc. All these rules work - in context. They're transparent to anyone who's spent time negotiating, doing sales, interrogations, etc.

And in the context of buying on this forum, most of these just come across as clownish buffoonery. If a seller engages with you on it, trust me, it's with an eye-roll.

Just the other day had a guy toss out an offer of less than half of my asking price. His follow up offer woulda bought the thing had he not pissed me off to start.

Yep, a low ball offer is a good way to get ignored, especially if the seller already has the item(s) priced low. Additionally, being a FNG doesn't play in your favor, considering all the scams in which buyers make false claims to get their money refunded. As such, some guys don't or won't deal with FNG's. Like many here, I listed several items at a very low price, and had a guy low ball me, wanting all of them for a ridiculous price, when the asking price was already ridiculously low. I simply ignored him. Yet he still had the gall to get all but hurt, thinking he had a right to the items because he (in his mind) made the first offer.

Bottom line is that there are guys here I'd give stuff to, and guys I wouldn't sell a 1 cent item to for a million bucks. Generally, we each chose which category we fall in by our own actions.

I've sold a lot of stuff on here, I think @ChrisAU and I may be in the feedback lead but haven't check in a while.

I doubt if greater than 10% of my posts the buyer posted in the thread.

My take on it all is that I'm not obligated to sell to anyone, for any reason I choose, and it's not yours until I have your money.

It is really helpful to read these comments. To be honest, I've always posted something long the line of "I'll take this" in the thread with an immediate follow-up PM. I've never considered that doing so puts one at a time disadvantage or SUBSTANTIALLY more dangerously, paints a target on your back for a scammer (thanks for this tip wyosteve). I'll conduct myself more appropriately going forward.

Yeah the scammers will see that verbiage and if they've logged your cell number posted anywhere on the forums they'll text you with payment details immediately after you posted it.

I also get notifications/emails from a PM but not a reply to a thread. Replying to a thread is a good way to get a scammer in the middle too. Send a PM, it's the best all around.
