If you have a chance to move to Canada, which province would you choose?

for the last ten years liberal with a coalition of ndp and before it was conservative like canada at the time ... @Elite it is not because you choose not to come here because it is too cold, housing too expensive and liberals that you do not have to have your facts straight lol ...

It’s literally been the liberal and NDP up there since 2010

well seems you are really biaised ... yukon party aka the conservative were in power with a majority for 10 years from 2006 to 2016 ... in 2021 they won the popular vote but not the seats for the MLAs (some have already heard the story on other places lol). on the federal level from 1957 to 1987 conservative party ... from 1987 to 2000 ndp, 2000 to 2011 liberal 2011 to 2015 conservative, 2015 to now liberals ... so maybe you have a confusion between the federal election and the legislative assembly of the Yukon that represent a little more the vote.

but again certainly not the place for you too much liberals lol ... way better in bc lol ... and yes we get cold like in alaska and yes there is an housing crisis but nowhere else in north america ...

Federal results for Yukon (NWT and Nunavut not much different):

2000-liberal

2004-liberal

2006-NDP

2008-NDP

2011-NDP

2015-liberal

2019-liberal

2021-liberal

2025-liberal

I wasn’t arguing territorial elections (they are their own problem-see BC) the provinces didn’t cause the blanket problems across the country in the last 10 years like trying to take away my guns or cause what was a 300k house 5 years ago in my area to be 750k now.
2011 to 2015 conservative,

Well, if you do move to any of the Provinces. Leave your pistols. As a handgun hunter and one who always packs a pistol in the woods it's a no go. Handgun hunt is illegal in Canada. Plus the gun control is getting and had been down right draconian. A few years ago the wifey and I traveled through on a road trip and there was one out of the way town in the mountains, Grand Cache Alberta. I remember looking around and saying, "I wouldn't mind living here, only problem it's in Canada"

that is a true problem. interesting that alaska and atf authorized me open carry in alaska and hunting small game with handgun while can use them only at the range here in canada ...

edit: but i might add it is a deeper issue than just territory as most canadians living in the cities did not understand the use of firearms for protection up to the time they need it or they start to shoot at the range. i made myself the promise to bring at least two liberals a year at our range: shooting handguns. cannot anymore do for the ARs but it was fun as well ...

Note

On December 15, 2023, Bill C-21 received royal assent, and the government changed the Firearms Act to include the limits on handgun transfers that it first implemented by regulatory amendments on October 21, 2022:

  • Individuals can continue to possess and use the registered handguns they currently own;
  • Individuals can no longer purchase or import a handgun into Canada, unless the individual belongs to one of the identified exempt groups;
  • Individuals and businesses cannot transfer a handgun to an individual within Canada, unless the individual belongs to one of the identified exempt groups;
  • Individuals and businesses cannot submit applications to transfer handguns through the contact centre or Business Web Services, when the buyer is an individual, unless the buyer belongs to one of the identified exempt groups;
  • Authorized businesses may continue to sell handguns to exempted individuals, law enforcement and defence personnel or other authorized businesses; and
  • Individuals, or the estate of a deceased handgun owner, may only dispose of handguns by (a) selling or giving them to an exempted individual, or to a licenced business or museum; (b) lawfully exporting them; (c) having them deactivated; or (d) surrendering them to a chief firearms officer, a firearms officer, a law enforcement officer for destruction without compensation.

Grande cache was a great place to live. But once again the government wrecked that and shut down the coal mine there.

Yukon, it's like BC but now with a Conservative government and far less population. Also because of it's proximity to Northern BC and NWT for additional hunting opportunities.
and trust me the last month we got a nice cold spell that will take care of the people that really did not want to be there ... they will fill greatly vancouver, toronto or montreal for the greater benefits of those cities.

Remember traveling to Alberta in the early 70's as a kid. One of the places we went was Grande Cache because friends lived there. First place that we had ever seen lawn being rolled out! Was just being developed at the time I believe.

If I was single and didn't have kids I would move up to the Yukon for sure. OTC dall sheep, caribou, bison, moose, grizzly, black bear.

I grew up and live in southern Alberta. Every year I can hunt sheep, elk, black bear, whitetails, cougar, and wolf all OTC with a rifle within an hour or 2 from my house. Mule deer and moose with a bow or a rifle if I want to go to Northern Alberta.
