I don't think I'll ever leave Idaho.

Just based on hunting... Deer(mule deer and whitetail), elk, bear, wolf, archery antelope(not OTC, but guaranteed), mountain lion every year. Most cases you can buy multiple tags if you want.

No points for Rocky Mountain and California bighorns, mountain goat and moose, so you won't be behind the curve if you start applying.

Everything else is irrelevent. Find a job, everywhere has jobs, just have to find the one you want. No matter where you go, the women are crazy.

Move to BC, become a coal miner, make over $100 000 a year working less than half the year and hunt bighorn, goat, elk, moose, stone, mtn caribou, grizzly, mule deer, whitetails, wolves cougars, black bear, wolverine, bison, roosevelts, turkeys, california bighorns and just about anything else that moves in the mountains. Just an idea.

Man I don't know if I could hamstring myself like that and only be allowed to hunt 6 different species every year ;)

Just a thought, but I suspect as a general rule, if you want a wife that is willing to live in Alaska, you better find a wife in Alaska. I'm sure that isn't an absolute, but my wife would kill me if I moved her to Alaska. MT's short winter days are as much as she is willing to accept. The long summer days are great and she enjoys the real summer vs. just having winter and August at 10,000 ft in CO. Dark all day in Alaska would push her to full on depression. I may have gotten away with it when we were your age, but not now.

I've known two guys that lived in Alaska for a few years and it sounded like hunting access was not as easy there as you would suppose. Although, I wish I had experienced it myself when I was younger.

I tried to close off all entry into MT when I got here a couple years ago, but it didn't work.

It's time for an Empire State of mind. Move to NYC. Women are abundant, smart, and beautiful. The adirondacks - the largest state park in the country - gives you millions of acres to hunt. And income mobility is higher in the NE than anywhere else in the developed world. (http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/07/2...me-ladder-location-matters.html?from=homepage). Yes, acquiring a gun license is tedious - requiring you to fill out all of six pages of paperwork (easier than filing taxes), but the pros far outweigh the cons. And 100k is less than what you would be making as a school teacher.

All true and you'd likely make more money, but at the end of the day you'd still be living in NYC looking at high rises made of steel rather than granite....not worth it :D

Sorry dude but I grew up in Upstate NY and that state is screwed. The only way it will ever get better is for Upstate to secede from NYC and drop the turdbowl of liberal BS that continually elects the Cuomo's of the world. We won't even get into all the punk Gotti boy clones for neighbors....
