If you could move and live anywhere in the lower 48 where would you go?

I could.
So I did! 😃

I researched the hell out of 90% of the country & spent a small fortune visiting different states before I moved here from England in '09.

I chose Tennessee. 😁

I've visited most western states & I adore western Wyoming, but I don't regret my decision at all. If I had it to do again, I'm pretty sure I'd still pick middle TN.

I live in Western Colorado and I am very happy with it. Our property is 1/4 mile from BLM which borders USFS. I can hunt deer and elk from my house. I get two elk licenses every year. Our politics are outvoted by the Front Range (Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins etc) but our quality of life is very high. I still love to ski and we're not moving .

Not sure but the older I get the more I hate the cold, so I’d probably pick 2 states, winter and summer!

I would just move 2 miles west to be on the MO side of the Mississippi river...IL is killing me. Otherwise I like this part of the country...all 4 seasons, great deer and turkey hunting, all family close...and I'm 13 hour drive from my favorite elk spot and 13 hours from our family white sand beaches...both easy day drives.

Genuinely curious, if you could no longer get elk tags every year would you move?

As a nonresident, I used to wonder why so few people lived in Wyoming. As a resident, I now understand.

The hunting opportunities are great, but that’s a few months at best. WY also offers world-class snow shoveling for up to half the year.
There are many reasons CO has 10 times the population of WY. Weather is just one. Economy is another. Yes, there is a lot of political BS here but if you stay off the news you don't miss anything.

I grew up in the Southern Appalachian region of North Carolina. It’s a good enough place to be from. I always enjoy visiting family but I don’t want to live there again.

I’ve lived in Wyoming far longer as an adult than I ever spent growing up in North Carolina. I’ve carved out my niche here, my wife is a Wyoming girl, and I don’t want to be anywhere else.

I’m not looking to relocate, but if I were, I think I might enjoy Kodiak Island. But I did live a few months in Fairbanks and didn’t like it there.

I'm glad we have threads like this. I'm about to retire from the military and have no family ties back to any state. I have been in Alaska for the last four years and can't get out of here soon enough. Sure the hunting and fishing are great. But raising a young family here is not ideal, the crime is through the roof. Literally watched a homeless guy walk across the street at red light stopped in front of car and start peeing on the hood..that's fun the explain to my 4 year daughter in the back seat..I could go on. The schools are also terrible. Now if I was single or it was just my wife and I. Alaska would be amazing!

I live here too, but not in the city. I can agree with everything you say. I have everything we have invested here including my elderly parents. It’s the pay more and get less state. Maybe the 6 feet of snow in three days and the continual daily sampling since has jaded me
