If you could buy Kanab 1.0 vs Sitka Ascents for basically the same price

I would order up a size in the Ascents if you aren't overly tall or skinny :) They are an athletic cut so the waist size is "Sitka sized" so to speak. Buy them and try them on and return them if they don't fit.

I'm 6'2, 235 and LOVE the fit of Sitka Pants. You may need to size up one size. I'm not tall and slender by any stretch and I really like the fit of Sitka pants.

I love the kanabs I wear them for every turkey hunting in the spring and the first month of archery in the fall

No contest for me, Ascent all the way. Fit is better, pockets are way more functional and they are a lot more durable.

Kanab fit isn't as good for me and I blew them out in the crotch after about 7 days of use.

My Ascents just finished up year 2, probably 60+ days of true field use. They haven't missed a beat.

I'd agree with others though, the Corrugate Guide are probably a better comparison. I haven't used them but I plan to try a set this year.

After seeing this thread, needing new pants, and doing some research - I switched from the ascents to the Kanab 2.0. I only needed new pants because I needed a smaller waist size but so far like to slimmer cut of the Kanab. I'll check back in after a few miles and washes but one thing I did notice is the Kanab gives you that tightness around the knees when you take big steps where the ascents do not. However, the Kansas are much more silent than the ascent. Like others have said, it's hard to compare them.

I'll probably end up getting another pair of ascents in addition to my ascents.

I've never owned a pair of the kanabs as I've heard too many negative comments on the fit and durability. I have owned a pair of ascents and sold them after one season simply because I found the prana zion stretch which are a lot cheaper and very similar to the ascents. I'd give the prana's a hard look if you have the chance.

Well, I picked up some Kanabs 1.0 later version and I do like them. Like that they come with suspenders. Seem pretty comfortable. I understand the durability concern. But that is there for almost all of these syn. type pants imho.

I am not a fan of the Prana because of fit. I like to use a suspender and they are not very conducive to that in my situation.
I got a couple of pair of the pro guide eddie bauer. No use yet. I really would like to buy a couple pair of the Kuhl Renegade when ever they go on sale. I have one pair and do like them. But not at $75 a pop:rolleyes:

The Ascents at over a $110???? Not sure on that one either.

Kinda curions why you think the Kanab 1.0s are synthetic lol 1.0s are pure merino with ripstop but nothing synthetic about them. There's where your durability issue lies. I've always compared them to wearing pajama pants. Super comfy, just stay away from briars and thorny bushes. And sharp sticks, jagged rocks....

Another lover of the Ascent's here. I've taken some tumbles down side hills and even slid down a rockslide (unintentionally of course) on my butt expecting to find holes when I got up. Much to my pleasant surprise the pants were in great shape with no signs of wear! They're super comfy for me however I am the typical tall skinny guy (6'2" 175) so I don't think my fit opinion matters much in this case. Can't speak for the Kanabs or Prana. Running customer service though I spoke with many customers who had durability issues with the Kanabs as others have mentioned above.
