If you could buy Kanab 1.0 vs Sitka Ascents for basically the same price

Ascents. I always thought the original Kanabs were "goofy" fitting with weird pockets. Ascents are one of my favorite pants of all time.

I have both and prefer the Kanabs by far. I don't like the slender fit of the Ascents. Although, for brushy country I think the Ascents would hold up better. It's a personal choice, they're both quality.

Of the two, I would choose the Ascent pants. The Ascents have an athletic cut, whereas the Kanabs have an awkward cut and didn't fit as well. Plus the Kanabs are thin and rip easily. I ripped them while hunting in OR when walking by/through a blackberry patch.

I love the Kanab 2.0's but I've blown out two pairs in the crotch. Firstlite replaced them very graciously. I feel like they fixed the problem with the 2.0. The ascents are one of the best pants I've ever purchased. I like the Kuiu Tiburons better for early season but the Ascents are more versatile for a larger span of temperatures.

Ascents all the way, my go pants from August to October.
I didn't dislike my Kanabs however the fit was nowhere near as nice, kind of low in the crotch and very heavy when wet.

The FL Corrugate are a much better comparison to the ascent, but fit a bit different. I the Kanab 2.0, but never had a pair of the earlier versions. I think I will like the Kanab much better in the cooler early season weather, but the ascent are a great all-around pant and very comfortable.

I have the last year the 1.0 was made and they have been great, zero issues. Haven't tried the Sitka.

I've only had experience with the Kanab and wasn't impressed. They didn't last long at all. I would try the attacks, different material

ok guys appreciate the first hand experience. The Ascents seem's like maybe a slightly better pant. Imho a hunting pant needs to be a pretty durable item, other wise I would call it more of a hiking pant. How is the Ascent for fit. I am not taller and slender these days:confused:

Order your jean size and you will be fine

The original Kanabs fit like skinny pants as well, durability wise the Ascents are going to outlast the Kanab 1.0's by a long shot. I love the feel of the Kanabs but the durability on the originals was sorely lacking. Issues they addressed in the 2.0's. Now, if they'll just hurry up and get the damn tall sizes in stock this summer.

Can you explain the "skinny pants" comment. I have not heard that about the Kanab 1.0's?

It was the first year or two they were produced, the final 2 or 3 years were not a problem and most issues were resolved by year 3 into the 1.0.

The original Kanabs were "skinny jeans", the later versions of 1.0's would fit Sponge Bob Square Pants and the 2.0'S seem to be a better fit again. I never loved the Kanabs (but like the Corrugates a lot), but prefer the Sitka Ascents in fit and function 10 fold.
