I really like the reliability/tracking ability of the SWFA SS line of scopes, but more so, their uncluttered Mil-quad reticle. Unfortunately, availability is their achilles heel.

What other mid-tier make and model scope is on par with the SWFA SS, in reliability and a simple reticle?

There isn’t one. It competes well above its price point.
Maven RS 1.2 is more money.
Maybe….the S2H when it gets released but it’s a unknown now.

What model are you looking for? I just buy one every black friday. I know that doesnt help you this instant but they are often available in the classifieds too.

2.5-10x32 plex reticle (sold out)

3-15x42 MRAD, there's 5 in stock...I need to move on that one, but was hoping for their spring sale.

3-9x42 MRAD (sold out)

I only have experience with the 3-9 Swfa however I can say they are worth the wait if you can. If not I would definitely try the 3-15 personally. At that dollar range I haven’t heard of an equivalent for tracking and durability myself..

I prefer the 3-15 over the 3-9 or even the fixed 6. I own two of each don’t plan to replace the 3-9 but won’t buy anymore if the 3-15 are available.

A fixed 10x in Eastern Hardwoods is too much. My shooting range fluctuates from right underneath my stand to 800 yards.
I promise you it isn't too much. Im not some clueless westerner either. I spent the first 34 years of life hunting hardwoods in NY. Go to post # 40 in this thread and observe deer sized goats at 40 yards with SWFA 10x. It is completely reasonable IMO.

SWFA 10x is the 1 and only scope on my rifles for hunting WY and unless I was going back east to track whitetail and shoot at running bucks I wouldn't change anything for eastern hunting. If your shooting a lot of running deer in the eastern hardwoods I would us an LVPO anyway.

Too much for you, not too much for me. I carried my SWFA 10x in the forests and pastures for most of the past season. I had no issues on deer from 80-200 yards. I’d prefer a fixed 8x, but they don’t make that…

I can’t decide if I like the 6x or 10x more. I put another 10x on a rifle just this week. It’s fine for up close shooting.
