Not me, at the end of the day the wife wants a full freezer!

Call me crazy, but I'd rather spend the time Mule Deer hunting anyway...got 9 days planned in Wyoming helping my dad fill a tag he burned 6 points on (assuming he draws) so I'm taking any elk I can get with my bow!

I'll hold out for a bull in archery season. If I don't fill my tag, it's game on for cows come the first day of rifle season. My primary concern is filling the freezer. Antlers are definitely a plus, but if the clock is ticking I'm taking what I can get.

I won't shoot a cow with my general tag. I can buy an extra tag for cows in one of the units I hunt and may do that if I can secure access to private land. I wouldn't kill a cow on public land in this unit though.

Living in PA, its long way to travel to not come home with some meat for freezer..

Same here. Being from PA I'm shooting the first legal elk I can.

Last year was my first ever elk hunt. I was bowhunting and started the hunt with visions of antlers in my head. After getting my butt kicked for 10 straight days in the mountains with almost nonstop rain, I think if I would have shot a cow I'd have been crying I'd have been so happy. Wherever I end up this year (unless I draw my Gila tag), if a cow is legal, I will not be passing her up no matter what. I want a freezer full of elk real bad and I can have just as much fun calling for my hunting partner as I can hunting myself.

I learned my lesson last year. We were into elk everyday and I passed on spikes and cows. We never got a shot at a branch antler bull. My theory this year is I will shoot the same thing on the first day as I would on the last. So, yeah, I will not pass on a cow this year.......unless I get lucky in the draws I have pending and get a LE tag...then I will hold out
