Hi- I have a Kimber Hunter inbound that I going to top with iron sights (backup to a scope w/ QR rings)

The rear I'm thinking about Brockman's pop up peep sight (incorporated with a Talley base), but would consider something else.

Front sight I don't have a clue. I'd like something with some decent visibility if possible. Also with a thinnish barrel am I confined to using something with a band?

Suggestions for either would be most welcome :)

Thanks in advance.

The issue with Brockman's, I have a few on P-64 70s and on my pair of custom, light STS Classic 70s, a .308W and .338WM, "truck guns", is just GETTING them!

I have bought mine secondhand here in BC, but, never seem to find Brockmans, able to supply now???????

I have that very setup for ya if you are interested in buying it.

It won't be going back on my Kimber…as I have it setup differently now. Great setup for sure with the QD mount and NEGC front site barrel band.

NIce rig, I have a couple of those sights, but, was commenting on the Brockman rig which does not need to be removed to mount your scope and I would LOVE one for a Kimber, but, no availability on their site at present.

Since you are backing up a scope, one possibility for the rear would be NECG's Weaver-style peep sight. I actually have one of these that I would be willing to sell if you decide to go this route.

On the front I prefer a globe sight with an ultra fine crosshair. As far as iron sights go, this setup gives the best visibility of the target. Currently I am using Lymans globe sight with Lee Shaver inserts, though there are some other options. I am not sure how well this larger sight would work with a scope.

Luke- pm sent

Is that a Talley peep or Brockman?

Brockman’s sights used to be available on Midway and Brownells, but no longer. Brockman’s list the sights on their website, but not a click and buy option- I think you have to call (or email)

Would a micro red dot work for what you want the irons for? There could be some offset mounting options that would let you have both a scope and red dot.

I’m sure it could be damn handy, but I think I would rather rely on iron sights due to their simplicity, lack of battery etc

I would certainly buy this as I have them for other rifles, Brnos, Rugers and could really use this one. PM me here or e-mail to [email protected] with details. Gotta run now will check later around supper.

Bringing this thread back from the grave;

Does anyone who has put irons in their Kimber know a winning sight height combination that will get me in the ballpark?

I'm currently debating between getting a backup peep for my Kimber Hunter ( probably an XS Weaver backup for the rear) with qd scope rings or getting a peep sight set for my Ruger American Ranch (in 7.62x39).

The rifle is in hand all day when I'm hunting and on those snowy days hovering around freezing, the Scope struggles hard.
