Curious what people like and use for a scope to use for dual purpose on their rimfires? Recently picked up a zeiss lrp s3 6-36 that seems to work well as a crossover. Key features are a usable reticle at low and high power, parallax down to 10 yards preferably, good glass and ffp. We both found the LRP good at both applications, however 6x was a touch higher than ideal on the low end.

I will be picking up another rimfire, either 22 or 17 and will need to scope it as well. Considering another Zeiss, but want to know what others like and use. I always fancied getting a Leica PRS, but don't know what the reticles look like at low power. Also briefly considered a March. Any others to add to the list?

Well, you are not going to get LR out of a rimfire. You can pick up a .17 wsm and get up to 250 yards. (It falls off hard after 200 yards) 99% of people are not going to spend Zeiss money on a rimfire. Let alone Zeiss LRP money. (I run almost 100% Zeiss Optics). I personally love having a .17 wsm. Hands down the best rimfire for over 100 yards. Looking at scopes. Personally I’d get something in $400-$800 range. It’s just that it’s a rimfire. No rimfire is going to be highly accurate except maybe the 17 HMR. Even then. Once again. Your not shooting over 150 yards. Hard to justify a high dollar scope for that close. Hope this helps with future purchases.

I use Swaro Z3's on my rimfires. I like seeing the tiny little targets I'm aiming at. Think headshots on grouse, squirrels, etc

Most of the folks I shot rimfire prs with use the same scopes as on centerfire. Mostly 5-25, 4.5-29, 6-32, etc. Many will parallax down to 15-20 yards even if the factory spec is 50. For long range rimfire, say 300-400 yards, you really need a lot of internal travel in the scope and a taller elevated rail. You’ll want to be able to dial 20-25 mils for that. BUT since you mentioned it, not a one of those scopes is good at low power. For a compromise you might look for a scope in the 3-18ish range that has 30-35mils of elevation travel and put it on a 30moa rail.
