So... for those that regularly take deer and other larger game with 223, what's your requirements for the load. I see the 77 tmk, 88 eldm suggested. Keep impact speed above 1800. What else?

My ar will shoot a 69gr tgk out of the mag, same with hornady 75 bthp. 88's must be single loaded...

Suggestions please.

How far are you planning on shooting? My daughter and I have had good luck with 62 gr Barnes TTSXs on deer out of a 14.5” barrel (so not that speedy). However, our farthest shot with them has not been much over 100 yards.

Obviously you've read the 223 thread. Hard to beat 77tmks. Not sure what else you're looking for. If its out of an AR that and the 75bthp are the only ones that will fit.

Depends on how far they are away lol. I've been known to tag 1 at 350 with my 6.5 creed, 243 I try to keep them inside 300.

My prefered stand, its 180 to the woods where they like to pop out.

I have a 16" ar carbine that's legal for deer season, or a 20" ruger american. Both run 2.26 ar mags, and I handload.

I killed 2 whitetails last season with the 73 ELDM. 1 at 25ish and 1 at 125ish.
I saw no difference in terminal performance between them and the 77 TMK. Used on whitetail deer.
The factory 73 ELDM will work in a 2.26 internal length magazine.

Then have at it brother. Start with the 77tmks and as much varget as you can get in there. I think I ended up around 24.6gr and it's a bit crunchy. The 73eldm would work as well but the TMK did very well for my son this year. So well I bought 1k of them.

The 80.5 berger full bore has great but I'm running it at 3200+ from a 22 creedmore . But have seen guys take hogs and plenty of deer with it the 80 eldx is solid but from a 223 I'd run the 75 eldm first or the 80 if you got the twist for it the 88 eldm is also solid but I prefer that from a 22 cm.

This is in my personal opinion the ideal bullet for deer in the 223. The 75 grain Gold Dot/Fusion. very little lead dispersal and deep penetration with a good wound channel. For the guy that likes to eat deer heart not skewared with fragments of lead and jacket material.

I wounder how well they would hold up to 22 creedmore velocity? Exp under 300 yards.

Well I have tested them going 2900 fps out of a 22" barreled 223 and they looked just like they did at 2640 fps. That said they need at least a 1-9 twist to stabilize and my 22-250 has the old 1-14 twist. You could load them down to 3100fps or so and I bet they would do just fine.

Right on they would be doing the same speed as the factory 70 accubond there doing 3134 from my 22" 22 creedmore... my son took a mid size 5 foot 6 black bear last weekend at 155 yards direct shot broad side thru the shoulder took out the heart and exited the other shoulder 3/4" exit.. bear went 17 yards.

I would use that bullet myself. Just don't have any.
