I recently picked this book up. Very fun read and the author did a nice job with the book.

I was a little surprised how few elk in the 400” range that Idaho has produced. Just not managed that way. Also, what a total disaster in the Clearwater area/ Lolo Zone. It went from having high elk numbers and some of the greatest trophy potential to being in the tank and a small shell of its former glory. Fish and game really should have done more I think but the wolves nailed the place as well.

I’d recommend reading it for the stories and seeing which areas have produced more trophy animals.

Ryan Hatfield did a really nice job on this book. Fun to step back in time and see some nice bulls Idaho has produced.

Definitely. I can only imagine how much time it took to talk to all the old-timers and compile all the stories and pictures.

Ryan was a few years ahead of me in school. He's a good guy and definitely has a passion for big game.

I have all four of his books. They are great and very motivating.

Ryan, up north you’re close to those Clearwater Giants. Might be one or two of those still around for you to chase.

Down south the only hot spot nearby is Fremont County, grizz central in Idaho.

All the rest of the counties just produce an occasional giant here and there.

I couldn’t believe that Owyhee County wasn’t on there more.
