Folks,
I've got a Lolo B (Units 10 & 12) elk tag and a Unit 12 Whitetail deer tag. The seasons overlap, but not perfectly. I'm not asking for anyone's favorite spot in Lolo, as I prefer to find my own honey hole . But I am concerned about barking up the wrong tree on an 8 day hunt. I've done a ton of homework, and it looks like the best elk hunting in Lolo will be in Unit 10, as there a few areas where the elk concentrate. But I have mixed data on Whitetail, with most pointing toward Unit 12 as the predominant area for that species. So, that Idaho Unit 12 whitetail tag might as well have been in Montana - I might not be able to hunt both species at the same time. For that reason, I'm looking at coming out twice, once in early October for elk, and back again in mid-November for deer. Before I go too far in planning, is anyone from this area familiar with a general portion of Idaho Unit 12 where whitetail and elk habitat overlap? I've seen a ton of those critters in 10A Dworshak, overlapping elk habitat directly. I'm hoping Unit 12 might have similar characteristics but the internet has yielded no information that might confirm my hopes. Thanks.
