the problem with a lifetime hunting ban is that they weren't hunting legally anyway. Its like permanently revoking a driving license for someone who drives without a license. I know of a case a few years ago, where someone was hunting out of state and not buying NR license, drawing tags, etc. Thy had already been doing it for several years when caught. The 5k fine or whatever it ended up being was less than what would have been spent on license and tag fees.... Again, prosecutors and judges that have no understanding of hunting and the true nature of the crime. "It was just an elk, aren't there a lot of them?" mentality
