Idaho OTC early antlerless rifle hunts

Hey guys, I know I'm new here, but I'm hoping you can give me some insight. I'm planning on hunting ID next year for the first time. I've got a 14 Y.O. nephew who is getting very much into hunting. He has hunted the last 2 years with me in WA and has seen lots of elk and deer, but no legal animals. Its time to change that. I've been doing a lot of research in the McCall, Sawtooth and Salmon areas. I've noticed there are a bunch of Aug 1 or Aug 15 to Sept 30 OTC Antlerless any weapon hunts. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'd love to be able to take the nephew over there in late August before school starts and have him drop a cow.

I'm also planning on coming back in October for an elk/deer combo with my Dad, thinking about the Sawtooth zone, or maybe 25. If anyone wants to offer some input, I'd appreciate it.

Some of those areas my be in the wilderness so do your homework but it sold be promising and fun. I have taken down elk in the last 2 years.

That sounds like a really good hunt to try especially for a first time elk hunter
