Idaho NR general tag going to draw?

I hate seeing it go to draw.

I would of just liked them to allow only one online log in and no buying tags for anyone except related youth.
It already was a draw, just a really really bad one where you could get multiple "entries" by opening multiple browser windows or you could pay to have someone in person give you a "top 10% entry" or whatever.

This simplifies it - one person, one entry.
As someone else pointed out, the number of tags (ie opportunity) hasn't changed.
This hasn't been an OTC system for years. OTC is like eastern whitetail (or resident ID) - walk up to the counter (or online) and buy your tag. "Getting a random spot in line" is just a draw with more chaos

What about in person sales?

Actually, that's still essentially random - you can't control how fast the various vendors across the state check out customers, who picks what tags, how many people across the state are in front of you. So while you are probably guaranteed a tag if you take a week off of work and stand in line, you are still not guaranteed any specific tag (essentially).

Once demand exceeds supply, you're forced to come up with some scheme for allocation, at which point it is very difficult to not include some level of randomness. At which point just make it simple and go to a draw.

Yawn. That comparison is so lame. Forums have been around since the AOL was cool. It wasn’t until 2014-2016 that influencers catapulted demand for western hunting into the next dimension.
What ever makes you sleep good at night. Google western hunting on the World Wide Web and see what the first hit is….. I did and Rokslide gave me the info to go on my first elk hunt in Idaho

I give it 10 years or less before people realize that this didn't fix the "problem" and they start calling for a point system to implemented.

Dont apply for Diamond Creek. I know about 5 more people that will be applying for it due to this change.

With winter range disappearing at a rapid rate, population increases, and other factors I predict there’s going to be allot more restricted opportunities on the next decade.

It’ll be interesting to see how the dichotomy switches. Idaho works random because there’s a ton of otc opportunities, but following the trends of west I can’t see those lasting in perpetuity.

Yes because you look at Rokslide allot I’m guessing, try it with no cache or cookies on a random computer. My guess is your search bar will look different.

This was before I ever knew what Rokslide was. Searched otc states and brought this forum up and I joined . Now it’s my main source of social media entertainment.

People have a way of justifying stuff to make them selves feel ok
