Idaho NR general tag going to draw?

I’d rather have a tag every year because I put in the effort and made sacrifices than have “ease of use”. I don’t hunt because I like things to be easy.
The fact that it’s 2025 and a system is designed around large sacrifices is flawed. Let people stay home with their family, go to their kids basketball game, help their wife put the kids to bed, etc.. AND have a chance at a tag.

These situations don’t even apply to me but I can understand people have different lives than me.

Or let the people who care enough to make sacrifices have tags instead of rewarding those who arnt willing to put in the work. I’m sad the hunting community complained themselves out of one of the last opportunities for over the counter tags every year.

Everyone lives a different life. Happy hunting, I hope you have a tag for this fall!

Sounds like your sad that what has been working for you is getting changed around.

Guess we'll know soon enough if the new process is better or not.

I give it 10 years or less before people realize that this didn't fix the "problem" and they start calling for a point system to implemented.

Dont apply for Diamond Creek. I know about 5 more people that will be applying for it due to this change.

So having people buy big stacks of tags for other people is the major hard work and sacrifice bad ass muchacho’s like you were putting in to get a tag?

I’m a lifetime license holder in Idaho. This doesn’t affect me one single bit. As some who’s always complaining about utahs general draw I’m surprised you’re okay with the hunting community losing an OTC opportunity.

I’ve driven up from Utah and helped buddy’s get a tag. Never once witnessed people buying 10+ like everyone talks about.
Man
The sacrifices your buddies made to have you buy a tag for them.

Man I can’t imagine the ptsd they must have from the sacrifice.
Idk how they could’ve been subject to such horrific sacrifices and such hard work.

Did they have to have any kind of physical therapy or surgery from the taxing hard work?

But there is no lost opportunity. Tag numbers are the same if I am reading right. It’s just how they are distributed.
No one will be deer hunting every single year again. It’ll the same as the general tags in NM and WY. OTC tags for residents that take Nonresidents 5-10 years to draw. At least it’ll be random in Idaho. Nothing like 3% draw odds for a general season hunt.

I still took the time out of my day to help out. No matter what someone’s earning those tags to get to hunt. Not risking online to not get to hunt. It was honestly just fun. Put something hunting related to do in December and nice change from “unselected”

That's the fun thing about draw tags. If you put in for high demand units, you won't be deer hunting every year. If you find the lower demand tags, you can hunt more often. Just have to figure out what you want.

My problem with you is you have made several post about anyone should be able to make the sacrifice to go get a tag in person.
But I think it pretty hypocritical to cast those stones when you were getting tags for free loaders that weren’t doing the same.

Each individual should have to go get there own tag in person.

I hate seeing it go to draw.

I would of just liked them to allow only one online log in and no buying tags for anyone except related youth.
The online log in system made it so that it was already a de-facto draw. Except that you had a pile of tags being sold through vendors.

It was a first come first served system. If you have 500 vendors (just throwing that out) with 500 people first line, who is first?

The current system was broken and needed to be fixed. The new system was one of the ways to fix it. There were other was to fix it but that's the one that was chosen.

I can tell you who wasn’t first.

All the freeloaders having tags bought for them.

I agree 100% if they’d done that everything would have been solved.

The only reason I did that for people is because I couldn’t do it for myself since I have a lifetime license. It was fun.
