I’m telling you that I get offered outfitter tags every year for the capped zone I hunt for me and my nr buddies for no cost, I’ve taken them a few times to help an outfitter.

It’s pretty easy to get outfitter tags for nrs in July if you know the right people.

Understand. I was just stating that the last 3 years there has been outfitters waiting in line to get NR tags.
Was also told by the IDFG folks, that when the returned tags do go on sale. There are folks at the offices waiting to try and get them.

Full time or part time? Get all their buddies together and lock up the vendors to process their list first. The list before the line is real.

You’ve seen this happen? IDFG has requested information on those vendors. Call and report.

I’m yet to find a dishonest line, someone that claimed to be associated with an outfitter, anyone buying for more than 4 people, or anyone significantly tying up a line for any other reason.

Multiple people have provided evidence and multiple first hand encounters of this happening over the past few years on here. IDFG doesn’t care. It will be interesting to see what they come up with to screw over us DIY guys without screwing over the outfitters.

It's crazy not many people have mentioned the fact that there is massive a amount of "independent guides" from other states going to Idaho and buying Tags for Clients. I witnessed five at a F&G office buying something like 5-10 each. Pretty sure outfitters would be in uproar if most knew this was going on.

That outfitter business is not licensed in Idaho, neither is anyone with his last name. The DTO (outfitter) website only lists Oregon hunts. Nonetheless, if you have evidence or testimony of that sale or another involving an early access list or other bought advantage from the vendor, call IDFG at any regional office or email to [email protected]

The IDFG offices have a separate line for people buying for 5 or more hunters. Unlicensed guiding is an issue separate of the tag sale. There is no way to tell an unlicensed guide from a DIY guy buying tags for family/friends he hunts with.

I don't believe the Outfitters should get any allocated tags at all. Make your pitch to the hunters that actually draw the tags. If there's not a market for your services, then you should fail like any other business. I'm sick of hunters subsidizing the very people who are taking our opportunities away. Especially how big of jerks many outfitters are when they find a DIY camp in the same area as theirs. It's crazy how the system out west is designed to serve a tiny handful of wealthy people instead of the vast majority of hunters. Of course no state is worse on this than Wyoming.

I would also be ok with requiring people to buy their own tags, with an exception for youth tags.

Agree with all, it’s unreal. And it goes to show how much corruption there truly is with F&G, lawmakers, and outfitters

Yeah so the outfitter goes to a vendor and says I’ll give you X amount to get me in line first and to sell me as many tags as i can get. Complete BS

Idaho fish and Game could care less what a vendor or any individual does.
Here is the response I got from the feedback I gave for the sale.

You’ll never believe it as you have shown in this post. But it happens, both ways!

I’ve been PMed by people from just this thread and one other on a diff site of people admitting to it saying “that’s us”

Then there’s serval others with examples. It HAPPENS and it won’t be fixed as there’s nothing in it for them.

At MOST, you’d just make it happen another way even more sneakily.

@ez_willie in your initial email, did you report a pay list/early access or just multiple and absentee purchases?
My initial email was a concern of a vendor purchasing for a list of family and friends and working with an outfitter. I was told that’s not possible and illegal but then they backtracked and basically said vendors could do what they want. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t breaking any laws when I may or may not have coerced someone outside of their normal business hours to open for just me so I could print a bunch of DC tags.

I'm not denying that it happens, but what is "it"? If it's multiple proxy sales, yes, that is widespread. If it's outfitters buying, also yes, but it's little compared to DIY proxy sales. If it's a list, also somewhat common to mark honest positions in line. If it's purchasing for more than 5 people, you have to search for that in order to see it. All of this is honest and fair. However, if it's a prepaid and set priority sales list, it's very, very rare, and IDFG routinely requests for reports on it. It's also a miniscule number of vendors among the total across the state. It's easy to find a vendor where this doesn't happen.
